So I guess there is hope after all. I have been running into all the local record stores, in hope of finding a copy before my pre-order gets in, with no luck whatsoever, although Tower shows it in their data base, with no copies in stock (I think by now they must have ordered some), or at least that was their excuse. Yet another reason why one should move east. Mail from AG arrives faster there. Angelos PS. For some bizarre reason I have been humming Building the Colossus to the the tune of Smoking in the Boys room by Motley Crue. And I haven't even heard the song yet... :) ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 25 Aug 94 19:40:41 -0700 Subject: tori amos appearance in bellingham From: Damon_Harper@mindlink.bc.ca (Damon Harper) >From the desk of Damon Harper: My friend wants to know: Has anyone heard anything about a tori amos appearance in bellingham, wa, next month?... a friend of mine said they'd heard something about a concert, but couldn't give me any more information. thanks:) -- "Days go by endlessly, endlessly pulling you into the future." - Laurie Anderson, "White Lily" Damon_Harper@mindlink.bc.ca - nomad@kazak.nmsu.edu - nomad@helix.net ======================================================================== Date: Thu, 25 Aug 94 23:45:07 EDT From: WretchAwry Subject: BTC (no spoilers) (...in which Vickie quietly returns to the fold) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi, My day today started great, took a terrible turn midway with some unsettling news, a refusal from a car rental company to rent me a car with an international driver's license (something I have done repeatedly in the past, see ectomobile), which made me leave for SFO an hour later than I had planned, with a friend, being an hour late to pick up my sister and my nephew and niece from the airport... But I GOT BTC in the mail. I am listening to it as they sleep in the next room, and have scanned through it once. I need to study it closely and will refrain from posting my first impressions, which is something I did with Equipoise and regretted later. More later. Angelos mortar here mortar there (SPOILERS FOLLOW) PS. I know one thing for sure though. I don't like the cover art *at all*. What was she thinking? It looks IMHO like an Aladdin Sane/Pin-ups rip-off. The inside picture is much much MUCH better! ======================================================================== Date: Fri, 26 Aug 94 09:05:32 MEZ From: Dirk Kastens Subject: Re: Happy happenings et al. I listened to it last night with dimmed lights and a glass of wine in random repeat play mode. It's fantastic. I really appreciate that Happy kept her own style and didn't try to make "music for the masses", although it's her most accessible album, IMO, as Robert said before. She should have taken the inside picture, where Happy looks great. There isn't a single painting in the booklet. Why didn't she show her talents? I can't await to see Klaus' raytracing cover on Saturday :-) Dirk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ || \\\\\ || ///// | dkastens@dosuni1.rz.Uni-Osnabrueck.DE || ))))) IRK || ((((( ASTENS | "Music's the way, the only way I know" || ///// || \\\\\ | Happy Rhodes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ======================================================================== Date: Fri, 26 Aug 94 09:18:26 MEZ From: Dirk Kastens Subject: Peter Gabriel SW live EP Hi again, I bought the SW live EP by Peter Gabriel, yesterday. It's great! Fantastic sound! It contains four songs: 1. Red Rain (6:15) 2. Come Talk To Me (6:13) 3. San Jacinto (8:27) 4. Mercy Street (9:17)!!! WOOOW, still the best song he ever wrote! A note on the inlay card says "from the forthcoming album Secret World Live". If all four songs are on the album, then this EP is totally unnecessary, isn't it? All tracks have been recorded in Italy in November 93. I also bought the new Sinead O'Connor CD5 Fires Of Babylon. It's amazing, too, although the cover versions (especially Streets Of London) are a bit too sweet and pathetic, IMO.
