Box 380, Bearsville, NY 12409-0380 Another option might be to call the 800 operator (1-800-555-1212) and get Tower's toll free order line. Since they carry Happy in many of their stores, you should be able to get her disc through this--and have the added benefit of helping Happy sell more through the stores. THere's also Ladyslipper, which have supported Happy for quite a while and deserve our support for that: MAIL: Ladyslipper, PO Box 3124, Durham, NC 27715, USA ORDERS: 1-800-634-6044 (Mon-Fri 9-8, Sat 11-5) INFORMATION: 919-683-1570 (same hours as above) FAX: 919-682-5601 (24 hours, 7 days a week). This wasn't too uncommon an occurance considering the amount of sleep he was getting or the subject of the math lecture. For some reason, vectors and matrices never interested him. To tell the truth, not much interested him. Danny boy was in a proverbial rut. He's "spinning his wheels" as mom and dad would put it. It's been this way since his first tragic attempt at "the college experience", a half-assed attempt at that. WAIT!!! STOP THE PRESSES! Life ain't all that bad. He's kinda happy in his own way. Three meals a day, a roof over his head, and a sort of direction for his life. You see boys and ghouls, Dan had a problem. He was talented in two opposite arenas in the game of life. He had a head for math, but his heart belong to music and the theatre. He could sing, act, and differentiate most trigonometric functions at the same time. This particular skill is not all that much in demand, but he was proud of it nonetheless. All in all though, he was happy. He had good friends, good grades, and good music. "Who could ask for anything more?" Oh! There he goes. He's asleep. This is what you get for staying up late and not bothering to drink four pots of coffee. If you could pop into his head for a bit, or maybe read minds, you'd see this dream inside of Dan's noggin: He's standing at the bottom of a huge concrete crater, about 60ft deep with steeply sloping sides. The sky is gray and the air feels humid. A storm was on the way. In the distance, he could hear a voice (a familiar voice?) challenging him to try and climb out. There was nowhere to dig your fingers into, no footholds, but for some reason he was making progress. After about five minutes, he was halfway up the wall of the crater. The voice was continuing to taunt him. Daniel was getting just a tad pissed off.He doubled his efforts and after another few minutes, he was just about three feet fron the ledge. He could see a pair of boots and black denim pants belonging to the object of his irritation. As he reached for the ledge, his feet lost grip and he went into a free-fall. SIDE NOTE: Everybody says that if you're dreaming of falling and you hit the ground, you die. This ain't necessarily so! Well, not for Daniel anyway. He hit the ground lying on his back. It didn't hurt him. It felt like hitting a huge crash mat at high speeds. He got to his feet, looked up to the top of the crater, and saw a dark silhouette. As he was waking up, he heard the voice again; a little bit of laughter and a phrase that should be his epitaph. "If at first you don't succeed..." When he opened his eyes, he noticed that class was five minutes from finishing. Daniel began packing his things, eager to get the hell out of there. The first place he went after class was the computer lab. Home away from home. He had friends to talk to via irc (channel name withheld by request ;) and he wanted to check his e-mail. After reading the digest of his favorite mailing list (name withheld by request as well ;), he decided to call it a night. As Daniel left the student union, he thought, "You know, UW-Milwaukee isn't as bad as they say it is." On his way to class today, Daniel was handed three pamphlets detailing the "problems" with the University of Wisconsin school system. He just figured that some people would complain about something even if they had what they want. Some are just professional complainers. It was cool and breezy on his walk home. He enjoyed walking at night. It gave him some time to put his thoughts together. So his mood turned sour when he felt the barrel of a gun pushing against his back. "Damn! Why tonight?", he muttered under his breath. The thug ordered, "Hand over your wallet and your bag too. Just do as I say, and you won't get hurt." Daniel always fantasized about being the hero. He'd seen it in enough movies and comic books to make him want the chance to try it himself. This fantasy, in comibination with just a tad bit of foolish pride, resulted in probably the most idiotic thing he'd ever done (his parents would disagree). He spun around and grabbed for the gun. In a panic, the first time mugger pulled the trigger. The last thing Daniel saw before he left consciousness was the man running away from the crime scene. Then all was dark. The lyrics to "My Way" drifting into his head. When Daniel woke (or so he thought), he was standing at the bottom of a concrete crater about 60ft deep...... Next:What the hell is Daniel doing back in his dream? What the hell does Daniel look like? What the hell is Chad's major malfunction? Find out tomorrow...or maybe not (I may get flamed to a crispy brown.). Chad Lundgren (Morpheus) ----------------------------------------------------- 10223 W. Date: Fri, 12 Aug 94 18:10:17 -0400 I feel so let down. For once, I didn't know about an ecto-ish concert in DC well in advance of tickets going on sale. I can't believe I wouldn't have read with heaving breast any list of Sarah tour dates, praying for one more DC appearance. Well, I found out about one more appearance this morning. God only knows when it was announced or when tickets went on sale. Fortunately, Sarah is still unknown enough that I was able to get 10th row left tickets. Not as good as I had in March (front row center, but then that was ga and we got lucky...) So now I gotta know...is there anything else I don't know about folks touring through DC?! (for those interested, Sarah will be at Lisner on Friday, 9/16. I don't know whether or not there'll be an opening act...I'm hoping it'll still be October Project!) Mike...we're just off the aisle between center and left section, which is to say that the seats are just like our Tori tickets, only 8 rows back...which means we should have a slightly better view. Or something. ------ On an unrelated note, I was in a record store with my sister today and heard pleasant ecto vocals. Sure enough, it turned out to be Paula Cole, who's had some discussion round these parts. It sounded nice, and strongly reminded me of someone, though I can't figure out who. Jeff |Jeffrey C. You have three options: 1. Order directly from Aural Gratification (someone care to post the address? I don't have the Bearsville address handy) 2. Ask your local record store to special-order them. 3. Next time you're in the SF area, stop by Rasputin's in Berkeley, or just about any Tower in the area. They're well-stocked with Happyness. "And we started it all off with Ashes to Ashes by Happy Rhodes". So she's not a very original deejay, but at least she plays good music! Needless to say, I called her as soon as I reached work. "Was that Happy Rhodes you played earlier?!" "Yes." "Wow! Great taste in music." "Yeah. They have a new album out, it should be in record stores yesterday or today." "HUH?" "We just got a copy in the studio...you know they came here last year and did an interview at the station. Signed a poster and played a show somewhere in Santa Fe" "um, maybe _she_ played at the station, but as far as I know, _she_ has only done two concerts - in Albany and Philly. And last night _she_ played near Woodstock, at a concert for local musicians." "Oh, they did? You must be a big fan of theirs" "Well, is there anyway I can get a copy of the interview from last year?" "Not really. I didn't do the interview." "Well, thanks for playing the song." AAAARGH! I've now decided that the deejay is an idiot...but I'm still curious. Did Happy and Kevin make it out to New Mexico last year on the radio tour? And it looks like they've already sent out promo copies, so start calling your friendly alternative rdio station (or if you're in Albuquerque/New Mexico, call your only 'rock' radio station) and request a song from BTC. I'm going to call back this morning to find out the single and if there's some way I can hear a track or two from the album. *sigh* That is, of course, if this deejay is not a _complete_ idiot. "They" indeed. SHE'S COMING TO CHICAGO! HAPPY'S COMING TO CHICAGO! Anyone know where yet? Will Ifinally get to see a concert at Schuba's? Hell, I don't care if she plays at 2 in the afternoon in the middle of Lake Michigan, I'm there. How many Chicago ectophiles are there? I think we'll have to fill the place.
