I know this is going to sound like an odd request, but I need the "real" address/phone number of Aural Gratification/Happy/Kevin. I have the old phone number in Albany, but I assume that's no longer good, right? The reason is, well, I drive thru woodstock every time I go from Boston->Montreal or Montreal->Boston, and I am about 99% sure that I will have a good excuse to drop in on them during my next trip, which should be around May 1st (I gotta pick up an order for CDs, to bring back to Canada)... If anyone out there (Vickie? Meredith?) has the real address, or at least a phone number, or car directions, please send them to me!! I just looked up in my atlas and discovered there are 11 cities called Woodstock in the world. One is in England, Two are in Canada, one is in Australia, and there are SEVEN in the US... Naturally, I got confused between the Woodstock I drive through and the one that Happy moved to... So IN FACT, I don't need the address afterall, as I don't plan on driving through *her* Woodstock in the near future. Tis a pity, as it would've been nice to stop over AG and pay those folks a visit from time to time. Next interview someone has with Happy, please suggest that she moves to Woodstock Vermont (or Boston or Montreal).. Thanks in advance.. They encoded a binary b/w picture that had prime numbers as its dimensions that contained a shape like a man. The pic looks something like the following (just a bit bigger, about 17*23 or so): . . . . . . . * . . * * * * * . . * . . . * . * . * . . . * The reason for the primes: you can't disorganize the pic in too many ways. But why not a square pic? You can decode the above as . . . . . . . * . . * * * * * . . * . . . . * . . . * . * . * . . . * if you exchange 5*7 with 7*5. That's impossible with 7*7 kind of pics. The signal you get by coding such a picture (and repeating it over and over) is periodic but astronomically untypical (not at all like any kind of natural radio sources). They aimed such signals into regions of space that contain a lot of stars similar to our sun (age & size) in the hope that such stars could have a planet similar to earth with a civilization similar to ours in a small time slot of the history of that probably-not-existing planet. And they hope that these aliens are (able to and actually) listening. And capable of understanding. And capable of answering. And near enough for mankind to receive an answer within its (the mankind's) existance. Of course there aren't any 'results' from that... Avidly listening on my radio for periodic beeps that have a periode length that is the product of two primes, Uli ======================================================================== The ecto archives are on hardees.rutgers.edu in ~ftp/pub/hr.
