Who is Emily Bezar? 

Emily is a wonderfully talented singer-songwriter who has released three
albums: Four Walls Bending (1999), Moon in Grenadine (1996) and
Grandmother's Tea Leaves (1993). As her official bio puts it: "Emily Bezar
has been compared to both Kate Bush and Tori Amos, but her song-writing
veers away from pop convention so dramatically that it's hard to classify
her. She's a classically trained musician (Oberlin Conservatory, Stanford
University) who decided to forgo a career in opera to pursue her own
musical vision, but this is far from the standard
'diva-murdering-pop-tunes' fare. Her songs fuse rock, jazz, and electronic
music into evocative textures, and her piano playing is abstract and edgy,
setting off broad melodies. Among her influences are Richard Strauss,
Ravel, Weill, Stockhausen, Sondheim, Joni Mitchell and Keith Jarrett." 

Which other musicians has Emily worked with? 

She was a member of the Potato Eaters from 1991-1993 and she has also
collaborated with other Bay Area musicians such as Jessie Turner, Ira
Marlowe and Amy X Neuburg; Morris Acevedo (guitar), Andrew Higgins (bass),
and Steve Rossi (drums) play on many of her recordings. 

Has Emily ever played live outside of the San Francisco Bay Area? 

She has done a couple of shows in New York, but she usually sticks close
to home, and with a small child, that's likely to continue to be the case
for the foreseeable future.
