I'm hoping to spark off some interest with this question. How many of you would feel comfortable with uploading text / graphics / audio / video directly to a web page? I guess the real question is, are you in a position to create graphics / audio / video files from your own material, or would you want to send out a CD / DAT / photos etc. and have the site managers do it for you? We're hoping to have this site as much DIY as possible - that way, we don't get bogged down with scanning photos / converting CDs to MP3s, etc., and artists have the ability to put up whatever content they want onto their site. Please, discuss! Gary ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 28 Jun 2000 21:46:59 -0400 From: overbury@cn.ca Subject: Re: The DIY approach > > Okay, so no-one's posted anything... I can't speak for the others, but I was waiting for some more definition of what we were about. At least I thought I was. I hope to be making *.WAVs soon, and have no problem converting to MP3 and uploading them myself to a web page. I might upload some pictures too, I guess, but I have no plans for video. > > We're hoping to have this site as much DIY as possible - that way, we don't > get bogged down with scanning photos / converting CDs to MP3s, etc., and > artists have the ability to put up whatever content they want onto their > site. You can get MP3 converters for free off the internet. I've got one. Most people with a computer should have what they need to convert CDs to MP3. DAT conversion requires hardware. Maybe we could pool resources to provide services of that type? I can't help with DAT conversion myself, because I've got no SPDIF input on my soundcard. One thing that interests me is the possibility of collaboration with other feg musicians. - -- Ross Overbury Montreal, Quebec, Canada ------------------------------ End of digital-music-digest V2 #2 *********************************
