I went to both Dido concerts at the Forum Theatre and was front row both times, this did involve waiting in line for 2 hours beforehand both days, but I did meet a lot of people and it was a lot of fun :) For the first concert I ended up about 12th or so in line, this was because I was round the side of the place listening to the sound check Dido was doing before I went to stand in line. Once in line I met a couple of girls who were back packing across Australia from the UK and who had just managed to get tickets the day before also meet about 4 other people from Melbourne. Anyways I ended up a little right of the centre, front row. The opening act was "Hamish". They weren't too bad. They were two guys, one using a mixer machine with the lot! And the other one singing. It was kinda groove like, very interesting. Then Dido came on. She had the full band including Guitar, Bass, Percussion, Drums, Keyboards, DJ Boards and the sound of all of this together was amazing. The set list included: My Lover's Gone All You Want Here with Me Isobel My Life (sung so beautiful, thought she was going to cry) Honestly OK No Angel (DJ kinda mix, really good) Slide See the Sun (new song, really good) Take My Hand Thank You Hunter Do You Have A Little Time (new song, she played solo on the keyboard, brilliant!!) Don't Think of Me At the end the bass player, Michael I believe can't remember his name, threw out a couple of towels and set lists, I managed to catch a towel for a memento ;) don't think they really used them at all ;) That's pretty much it for that night. I didn't think it could get any better, but then came Saturday. I got there around the same time, listened to the sound check again, then I was waiting round after as no one much was in line as yet and the band starting coming out, and then Dido came out (and me without anything to have her sign) anyways I wasn't lucky enough to meet her, a couple of girls in the right place got her autograph and said hello, I talked to these girls afterwards in line and got to see the autograph, I couldn't tell if it was Dido or Michael Jackson who signed it, for such a small name the autograph was so big ;) Anyways, I ended up meeting another half dozen people in line and we all hung out in the front row, dead centre this time :) Anyways for the exact same set list this time the concert seemed so much better, must have been that final tour concert in Australia motivation ;). Everyone was into it and this showed in how "Hamish" and "Dido" performed. Dido's percussionist and drummer came on for a couple of "Hamish" songs and I enjoyed their set much more than the pervious night, there were a couple of good songs in their set, and having some of Dido's bands on really livened it up. Then Dido came on and the sound was so much better where I was this time and the crowd was more into it than the previous night, so she also sung so much better I believe and the band was having a lot of fun and games behind her :) All I can say is it was brilliant. Finally after her set I ended up meeting Vinnie (the guitarist) and also I meet Pete (the DJ boards), I'll have to say they seem to be the coolest guys I've ever met, especially Pete. Also to all of you Sydney listeners ;) she said that Melbourne was so much better than Sydney, both nights ;) hehe ;) Well that's a wrap for me, catch ya guys later....
