(I've misplaced my booklet) And of course, she was a featured act at their summer music festival. Not to mention that they were one of the first stations to play her music, and that's how I heard of her something like ten years ago. That's it from frosty, depressed (we still love our Steelers) Pittsburgh. One of my favorite things on these mailing lists is the ability to find out and to share other artists music. I'm a huge Catie fan, but I'm also always on the look out for new music. One person that I think you all would like is Naomi Sommers. She performed here in Cleveland at the Barking Spider Tavern (the best place for music in Cleveland). My roommate went that night (I didn't) without any clue who would be playing. He comes home with this CD and I instantly fall in love with it. I've even went back and picked up her older one which is equally amazing. Needless to say, I'm kicking myself for missing her perform at the Barking Spider!! She's actually lucky #13, still a pretty darned reasonable finish in a great line up...well, of those I've heard of anyway! But interesting that on all the individual Top 10 lists, Kathi Radock, Membership Director & Volunteer Coordinator is the only one who lists Catie...go Kathi! :) Never heard of WYEP...then, why would I here in San Francisco when we've got such great stations as KPFA, KALW, KUSP KPIG, KFOG, but obviously they're not as great as yours cuz they're not playing Catie on a regular basis! ; ) Just a note to everyone here that may not have made their way over to www.CatieCurtis.net yet that the new redesign is up and ...mostly... running! Yes, it is up and down sometimes depending on whatever work Bernie's doing to it. But be sure to check back in on a regular basis. The forum has been quiet for a while during Bernie's remake, but it's time to pick it up again! Go take a look! From the somewhat soggy-but-much-warmer-than-Pittsburgh-and-I-don't-care-about-the-Super-Bowl (because I'm a Broncos fan!) Since we're sharing, here are a few of my own, that are good representatives of much of my life's philosophy: 1. Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having a scoop of ice cream fall off the cone. 2. Duct tape is like the force: it has a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together. 3. Merge, merge...that's the problem with people today, they don't know how to merge! : ) So...thanks for the heads up on Naomi, Roger. Been taking a listen to her on CDBaby...I like, I like! Doesn't look like she really makes it out here to the "other coast" for gigs...at least not yet. Will have to order up in the mean time! When you think about how much terrific music there is out there, it's kind of overwhelming...always feel like you're missing out on something great! : ) Speaking of great and since we're sharing artists, I'd like to give a huge plug for a couple of my ultimate favorites...next to Catie, of course! ; ) I know some of you may have heard me mention these bands before, but I truly can't say enough about them. Blame Sally http://www.blamesally.com/ These gals are San Francisco locals and have built up a big fan base here, including one of our big radio stations, KFOG Acoustic Sunrise with DJ Rosalie Howarth. Each of these gals is extremely talented on their own, but when they play together it is truly magical. They have a wide range of styles from pop to rock to jazz to "world" to just about anything else they want to play. I also like their politics! Check out the video they have online "If You Tell A Lie". the bluehouse http://www.bluehouse.net/ http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bluehouse http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bluehouse2 You can see my reviews of their most popular albums on CDBaby, the older "Big" and the brand new "These Days", so I won't repeat that. These are some artists that I also went to see, never hearing of them before. It was their first trip through the Bay Area about 3 years ago. I was NOT disappointed! They are fabulous, beautiful...and funny! A definite not-to-be-missed show. Okay...back to work for me. Enjoy! Heather Roger Zender wrote: Hey All, First, let me say thanks for that quote...
