In the dozen or so times I've seen Catie perform, last night at The Ark is probably my all time favorite! What a great show! I know there were some other listers at the show, so hopefully they'll chime in with their opinion. Catie was accompanied by Julie Wolf on keyboards and accordian. Girlyman, who opened, also joined Catie and Julie on several songs. It was great hearing Catie with what kind of became a "band." Don't get me wrong...I love the shows that are just Catie and her guitar, especially on songs like Magnolia Street and Troubled Mind. But on songs like Kiss that Counted, Soulfully, What's the Matter and the new Red Light, having a host of musicians really rocked!! In addition to the songs I already mentioned, Catie played several tracks on the new CD, including St. Lucy, Deliver Me, Hold On, and Life Goes On. She didn't play my favorite new song, Cross Over to Me, but who can complain with a show this great. Catie also played some older favorites like Radical, Dad's Yard, Fusco's (sp?) Song, Patience, Bicycle Named Heaven, and The Big Reprise. We were treated to two excellent, pretty humorous covers. One was at the end of Girlyman's set, Son of a Preacher Man, which took on a whole new meaning as sung by Nate from Girlyman. The other cover was Tell Me Something Good. Hilarious and very entertaining! Like I said, really, truly, an excellent show. It was well worth the 2 and a half hour drive from Cleveland (in a thunderstorm, no doubt). Look forward to hearing more reviews as Catie makes her way across the country. Jeff Win a $20,000 Career Makeover at Yahoo!
