I heard about her on the Darlist (Dar Williams). No sooner than I post the question about the name of her CD that an interview with her aired on NPR's Morning Edition today. The CD title is "One Moment More". IMHO, it's the second good CD to come out this year (first: Jonatha Brooke's "Back in the Circus"). Plus, it rates as my best new artist of the year (2003--Kathleen Edwards; 2002--Tift Merritt). There's a resemblance to Kathleen Edwards or even Tift Merritt in her style. I also caught a touch of Julie Miller in her voice. Just my $.02. Here's the summary from NPR's website: Mindy Smith Live at NPR In Nashville, where new musical talent arrives at the bus station every day, singer-songwriter Mindy Smith is known as one of the city's most promising young artists. NPR's Bob Edwards talks with Smith about her new CD, her mentor Dolly Parton, and the inspirations behind her spare, emotional material.
