Recently I acquired a copy (2 cd set) of Women Singer-Songwriter Tour at The Keswick Theatre (10/04/03) with Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, Patty Griffin and Catie (subbing for Dar Williams) and I would like to weed it out to the Dad Yard's List. "What is weed?" you ask. As you know the CD Tree has a trunk (Administrator), Brunches(w/ CD-burner and time to burn copies for Leave) and Leave. Everyone interested sends an e-mail to the trunk indicating whether he or she wants to be a branch or a leaf and the trunk assigns leave to a different branch. Then the trunk makes copies for the brunches and mail them out. This takes tremendous effort and time on the part of the trunk. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time. On the other hand, WEED is much easier. Here's how it works: 1) Master weed posts an e-mail on the list announcing the weed project and solicits weed volunteers with CD-burner who are willing to reweed it to another weeds, asking anyone interested send an e-mail to the master weed privately. 2) As soon as the master weed gets enough volunteers, he/she sends out an e-mail to the list announcing the offer is closed (to prevent getting overwhelmed by the request e-mails). He/she also lists the name of the selected weeds in the e-mail. Those who didn't get selected will need to wait until another offer pops up. 3) Master weed mails out the copy to the his/her weeds. 4) As soon as the weed gets his/her copy, he/she e-mails to the list announcing he/she is ready to enlist more volunteer weeds. 5) Repeat 2) 3) and 4) and weed spreads. So what about those without the CD-burner? You have to wait a little longer. However, one way to ease the wait is to offer one of the copies to the non-CD-burner member. What about the cost/reimbursement? It's up to each weed how he/she wants to handle it. I prefer having my weeds send me stamps to cover the cost of the CD-R, envelop and postage. Other may prefer to have their weeds mail them self-addressed, stamped envelop and two blank CD-R disks. Some might prefer the trade. AS LONG AS nobody's making a profit out of this project. So here's my offer. I need six weed volunteers with CD-burner and time who are willing to make five copies to be reweeded (one of the copies to the non-cd-burner member). As soon as I have six weeds, I will notify the list the closing of this offer with the list of these six volunteers. Please e-mail me privately. If you don't get selected, please wait until another offer pops up. I asked Dierk Schile in Germany to be the EU master weed. I will be mailing him the copy tomorrow or day after. So if you live in the EU countries, please wait until he makes an offer. I am mastering my recording of Catie's house concert Heather mentioned. Unfortunately I forgot to turn on the mike and missed the first song. I am hoping to get other recordings and select the best one to weed.
