I'm in my second year as a college math instructor, and was a HS teacher for a year before that (and before that, an actuary for 25 years). On Monday, the principal at the HS where I taught was attacked on school grounds by some current or former students. He became principal after I left the school, so I don't know him personally. Nonetheless, I still feel as if I'm part of the school "family" and was affected by the event. As you read this, be thankful to teachers not just for what they do in teaching children, but all the obstacles, both physical and emotional they face in their jobs.
