[Joy Elyse Greenwald ] [dads-yard] Press release for Catie in Wilmington, DE [- Deb - Subject: [dads-yard] OT: Election Day!!!! Does anyone else get as excited about election day as I do? I am so giddy I had to share with EVERYONE! I love voting. I love going to the polls. I love wearing my "I voting today" sticker." I usually even love all the work I do before the election for the candidates and causes. I'm 27 and I have voted every election election since I was 18, but they always talk about 18-39-year-olds not voting. There are a lot of us on these lists. Do you vote? Why or why not? I vote because I really do believe that it is important to make out voices heard. If we don't vote, how we can we expect politicians to be responsive to us? (Of course, I then follo9w that us, with phone calls and letters to them while in office about things I care about about, so I do expect them to be responsive). And if the last election had taught me anything, it's that individual votes can count. For instance, I might have considered voting for Jill Stein (Green party candidate for governor in Mass) rather than Shannon O'Brien (Democrat), but Mitt Romney (Republican) scares me, so I'm not going to. (There's more to, but I won't bore you. E-mail me if you want my thoughts.) Of course, there is the fact that 99% of my candidates loose, but what can you do? I guess just work harder to get their names out before the election. Happy voting today!!! Enjoy your stickers!!!!
