It was a nice, small, informal venue. Just catie and her guitar. She played several new songs, which I've done a terrible job of remembering. What I do remember includes a song called st. lucy, who is the patron saint of the blind. She said she couldn't decide which saint to name the song after so she searched on the net and thought the story of st. lucy was appropriate. It sounded pretty cool, but I don't remember much of the lyrics. Another new song that I remember was something like "cross over to me." She said that she was going to nashville to co-write some songs with beth nielsen chapman. In preparation for her trip, she was watching the country music channel and ended up seeing a "behind the music" type of documentary on vince gill and amy grant. She had been working on this song and ended up rewriting it in a way that it kind of ended up being about the two of them. I can't say that I made the connection myself, but maybe upon further listening it will be clear! The last new song I remember was something like "someday, we'll all be free." I think she said that it was her post 9/11 anthem. It's very much in the spirit of "what's the matter." There is a verse about how she can get married, but it's not considered legal. And how some day they can adopt but there will only be one name on the adoption certificate. It was a great song. Sad, funny, and uplifting all at the same time. I get the feeling that this one will become a universal favorite from the new album. I think there may have been a couple more, but that's all I remember of the new stuff. She played several from "shirt" including "bicycle named heaven" and "love takes the best of you." And she played some old favorites, too. troubled mind, cry fire (with this one she said she's reviving some of the older songs), what's the matter, magnolia street, world don't owe me. It was a good show, just too short (as always). I had heard that she was playing for two hours, but it turned out to be only about an hour and 15 minutes. Hope to hear some more reviews from the rest of you out there! Have a great weekend everyone. peace, jeff ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V4 #81 ******************************
