I apologize for the cross posting, but this affect so many of us and the musicians we got on this list to talk about. I try not to fill up your e-mail boxes, but I don't know to reach most of you otherwise. I have spent most of the last nine months fighting the anti-gay constitutional amendment known as the DOMA. The anti-gay constitutional amendment is scheduled to be voted on at a constitutional convention TOMORROW. Time has run out. If you have been putting off calling or e-mailing your state legislators, please do it today!!! It's best to call, but e-mail is OK. Especially if you live in a more conservative area please call. I can provide you with any information you need, but is the volume more than knowing all the details that will help us win these legislators. Below is the Action Alert NOW sent out. If we can kill this thing now, not only will we protect civil rights but we'll avoid a costly and draining 2 1/2/ year battle where the other side has way more money than we do! There is so much to loose if this hateful measure passes. Joy Elyse ***EMERGENCY ACTION NEEDED*** The supporters of the Anti-Gay DOMA Constitutional Amendment have just launched a media campaign to push the amendment through the legislature. The ads are being financed by religious extremists whose goal is to turn back the clock and make lesbians and gays second-class citizens. The best response to this is to contact *your* state legislators to ask them for a NO vote on H4840. The quickest way to do that is: www.MassEquality.org/leg.php That page has a link that will identify your legislators and allow you to send them an email with your request that they vote no on H4840. H4840, The Anti-Gay DOMA Constitutional Amendment, would prohibit any legal recognition of same-sex families. It would stop even the most basic protections for same-sex couples such as automatic hospital visitation and bereavement leave. And, as the Attorney General said in his April 10th testimony, "The Bill would hurt children." If it goes forward, Massachusetts would have some of the least friendly, most restrictive laws towards Gays and Lesbians in the country. If you have friends that also care about equality for Lesbians and Gays please forward this to them.
