I, for one, would have liked to have been there...but she was playing against Mary Gauthier. I got to hear _Sugar Cane_, and I could almost understand some of the words. I have heard Catie's version a couple times this year. I hope it's on Mary's upcoming CD. To speak seriously to the straight/gay thing: I am on the concert committee of an predominantly straight organization that often has gay artists, or at least lesbian artists. I was almost shocked that the woman we had this year shared almost no clue that she was queer, let alone spoke positively. She did a Ferron cover, but she did not so much as mention Ferron's name or anything about the song. I am referring to a reasonably well known out artist. I figure she sized up the audience and arranged her act accordingly. Still, I can't imaging Catie doing that. Three of the last four concerts I have heard have been straight artists, and I would never want or expect them to censor their love songs. Straight artists can have gay fans, it should not seem odd for gay artists to have straight fans...and it should not matter all that much.
