A viewing of Ms. Folk America was the hit of Thanksgiving, I can't remember when I've heard such belly laughs and sheer delight at a movie. Thanks! I often thought he was underrated, because he was always so understated. I always loved the way he brought spiritually into mainstream music, but more than any feel-good stuff with all the answers; he asked deep, serious questions about the mysteries and meaning of life, and always invited us along for the journey. But I trust that he is in a better place now. Peace to everyone. There are a few shows coming up that I once again am heartbroken to be missing. So all I can do it tell you guys about them and hope someone send me a bootleg some day (feel free to do this). I dont think I have to say why Lori McKenna is amazing (and how she doesnt play out as much as everyone else now that she's had her 4th baby). Nor do I have to tell you why Voices on the Verge (Jess Klein, Rose Polenzani, Beth Amsel, and Erin McKeown) are not be missed. I havent seen them live since the time they recorded the CD they just released (Live in Philadelphia), but I've heard this round of shows has been incredible. Lots of new songs and arrangements. And Beth does have her new CD now. And someday at least one (maybe all?) of these people will come to Montana. And Catie, too... Anyway, here are the details on all this. Jess Come out and support LORI MCKENNA as she headlines two shows at the Somerville Theater (Davis Square) in Somerville, MA on FRI DEC 7th and SAT DEC 8th 7:30pm with special guests Teddy Thompson + Rose Polenzani (DEC 7th) and Teddy Thompson + Beth Amsel (DEC 8th) and Jess Klein herself will make a few guest appearances on DEC 8th.
