We've got good news! It seems that Catie's had a change of heart with respect to Dandelion. Essentially, she expressed that she just appreciates people trying to spread her music around, and that it would be okay if Dandelion (as well the originally-released version of You Can Always Be Gone) were made available to the list. So... These are now available for download (to "listers") at my "stealth" Catie site ("http://www.mark.umd.edu/~mark/catie")! But, please remember that Catie's initial reluctance had to do with her concern that some might hear this early work and, not realizing that it's early and "home grown," dismiss her before hearing any of her more current stuff. Therefore, per Catie's request, I've labeled everything from Dandelion (via the MP3 "Comment" field) "early cc basement tapes", though I personally feel that Dandelion is more flower than weed. :-) Please respect Catie's wishes by ensuring that this comment remains and also by not distributing the MP3 versions beyond members of this list. (My sense is that Catie would still rather not see this material on the likes of Napster, Aimster, and other such derivatives.) I remind everyone to please thoroughly read the disclaimer on the stealth site before proceeding to attempt any downloads. Thanks should go to Masaki for her kind work in "digitizing" Dandelion (as well as numerous other boots available on the site) and to Deb for her boot contributions and for serving as our excellent "Catie communications liaison." :-) Enjoy! With all the Dandelion excitement, I forgot to mention that "KALW Patchwork Quilt, September 8 2001, plus 2000 Promo CD" is now available on the site as well, again, courtesy of Masaki! This is a great recording, so enjoy! Mark Katsouros wrote: > We've got good news! It seems that Catie's had a change of heart with > respect to Dandelion. Kinda Long I've been on this list about two or three years now but this is my first post. I would like to express my thoughts and insights about my first Catie show last night at the Ark in Ann Arbor on a raining night in the state of Michigan. This was my second time at the ARK, Melissa Ferrick being the first, so I had a better over view of the place. The first time I sat stage right, which was actually further away from the stage. Knowing that, I sat stage left this time around and the seats where A LOT better. Not only did I have a closer view of Catie and the band on the stage, I was closer to the bathrooms. lol... My bladder was in full gear that night. I hate when that happens. Anyhoo, about the show.... My concert buddy and I really enjoyed the show. We both went to the Ferrick show together so this was his second introduction to my music preference. We're completely opposite in that department. He enjoyed Catie more but I thought both of them were excellent in thier own way. With this being the first time for us both at the Ark, we were completely satisfied with the wonderful talent from these two ladies and the nice people who run the Ark. Very kind atmosphere. The venue itself reminds me of my childhood basement. Can't wait to go back. I think Melissa is doing her third and final show here next Sunday. I'm not familiar with Patty Larkin but I think she's coming too. I've seen her name mentioned many times on a few other list so I might check her out too. The opening act was pretty good. I think her name was Denise Frankie. (sp) The first name might be wrong but I remember Frankie. She played 4 songs with one of them being about Detroit. Then along came Catie. I didn't even reckonize her at first. I've only seen pictures of her and she looks completely different in person. Looks as if she's letting her hair grow out. The glasses were new too. She played a lot of songs off her new album so I really didn't know them yet. I can't remember the set list but she played one of favorite songs which is Magnolia Street. I really wanted to hear 100 Miles. Maybe next time. The band was very diverse. I've always pictured Jimmy Ryan as a older dude with gray hair. I guess I was wrong. Ha! The drummer dude reminded me of a hippie friend of mine and the bass player was a nice mixture of color added to the band. As a white chick, I have three black brothers in my family so seeing a black man up there was nice too. I can't remember all the chatter but she mentioned that she lived here in Ann Arbor for two years in the early 90's and that her mom gave her a vacuum to take back home since she ran over her cord on her vacuum or something to that effect. Did anyone else here go to the show and tape it? I would love to have a copy if that's possible. Catie's stage presense is so heart warming and her voice is just AMAZING! Cute too. I hope to see her again in the future. Thanks for reading if you made it this far. Toodles~Julie ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V3 #146 *******************************
