(snip) - - - - - - - A trio of Catie/Nina/Ryan would be wonderful to see sometime! I've had the chance to see Nina play with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lucy Kaplansky, John Gorka (actually, as I recall, she backed up the entire cast of the '99 Kate Wolf Fest - the last one I've been able to see) and she is aMAZing! I might also suggest that Jimmy Ryan plan to abandon Catie at least once during every tour if the result is a song as beautiful as "Elizabeth" :-) Seeing Catie two nights in a row (Mystic & Foley's)was a REAL treat and I'll listen to the cd player on a wave of renewed fondness for this music which I already loved. At the Mystic, my friend & I asked if we could join another couple who were already seated at a table for four in the front of the theater. In the 30 minutes before the show, we learned that the wife, a psychologist (who's a huge fan of Janis Ian and did not know of Catie) had worked in China for an agency which arranges adoptions. After a required one year separation from the job, she and her husband adopted a little Chinese girl (now 3 yrs old)through the same agency. When Catie sang "Love Takes The Best of You" the emotion at our table was profound, and there wasn't a dry eye. It was incredibly moving. Having Catie share that one of the three children pictured in the cd was present in the theater that night made it that much more memorable. Fyi, the DJ for FM 104.9 (Q105) who attended the Mystic show did indeed play Janis Ian's "Boots Like Emmylou's" this morning at about 6:10 a.m. prefaced by the anictode about Willie Nelson's offer of a joint. I turned it off after the song so I don't know the reaction the song received, if any. Regarding air play, I am pleased that 98.7 KRSH is supporting MSLGOY - I have heard them play her quite a lot lately, including the live studio micro concert (Kiss That Counted & Patience). Regarding Foley's, I agree with Susan, the seating made it necessary to become quite chummy with the sardines sitting next to you! The performance on stage was fun, friendly, and energetic and the crowd was great, enthusiastically singing our parts. Thanks to Catie for singing Magnolia St. which always takes my breath away. I haven't gotten around to pursuing a copy of Dandilion, so hearing it performed was a pleasant surprise! I was not familiar with Julie Wolf prior to Saturday night; what a beautiful voice she has! I have come to the conclusion that I really must invest in a new camera, as the one I own failed to take decent fast film/non-flash photos even from my row 1 seat! Grrrr! How can someone who was within 7 feet of me look SO tiny, grainy & dimly lit!?!? Ugh! Anyone out there with high recommendations for a pint size/auto focus/zoom camera please e-mail me OffList @ Mailto:HFiedler@Prodigy.net Thanks! Nice to meet you Heather, and Susan, it is always good to you & Linda! I'm not sure how I missed the opportunity to meet the others of you, but hopefully next time :-) Heidi #12 ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V3 #127 *******************************
