["Susan Krauss" Subject: RE: [dads-yard] the show at foley's... I echo everything said by Heather and Masaki. Wonderful show. Wonderful to see so many folks. Uncomfortable chairs (worse then the Freight & Salvage ). Here's the actual set list: Patience Heaven Big Reprise Magnolia Street You Can Always Be Gone I'll Cover You Fisherman Soulfully Love Takes the Best of You Now Jane Troubled Mind (w/Julie Wolf) Kiss That Counted (w/Julie Wolf) Elizabeth Radical Memphis Stay Up All Night Dandelion What's the Matter Dad's Yard The show was just under 90 minutes long. Catie and Jimmy both looked like they were having a great time - lots of smiles and laughing (always makes the best performance). Great show. susan in oakland ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Sep 2001 03:05:40 EDT From: CampGrrl63@aol.com Subject: [dads-yard] ahh, the final show.. Alas and alak, "Catie Week" has drawn to a close here in the SF Bay Area. I just got home from the Club 47 show at Villa Montalvo...Tom Rush, Catie, Janis Ian and David Bromberg. Tom was funny, but his music would have to grow on me to want to buy the cd. David Bromberg will never grow on me...he annoyed me for some particular reason. Although, he can flatpick pretty damned well! The only fun thing about his set was that we got to see Mr. Jimmy Ryan wail on the mando like nobody's business! Never really gotten to Jimmy crank it out like that before...Woo hoo! : ) Janis Ian can play the hell out of that wee little guitar!!! From a distance, I swear it looked like a graphite guitar...and jeez-us, does she have the effects pedals and shit DOWN! I'd never seen her play before, but she sure is a little dynamo! And for a little lady (she can't be more than 4'11"?), she sure can pound it out! And then Catie, of course. The shortest, obviously, set of the 3 nights I got to see her...each show very different! She and Jimmy were great as always...but only for 5 songs: Patience The Big Reprise Soulfully Love Takes the Best of You Dad's Yard Overall, the audience wasn't exactly Catie's regular audience, but I know there were several us out there that knew and loved her...and they all voted (along with those just voting by song title) for her to close with Dad's Yard instead of Memphis...my vote was for a rousing Memphis...I lost! It was a great run with 3 wonderful shows...I can't wait to see Catie again headlining with her own band in November. Until then, I'm sure "Shirt" and the others will be spending more than their share of time in the old cd player. Now, I'm tired...and tomorrow is a Monday...sigh. Have a great week, y'all!
