["donald.anderson" Subject: [dads-yard] new kris CD I received the new Kris CD last week and haven't stopped listening to it yet. Don't you just love the process of "discovering" a new CD. Each time I listen, I pick up something different...decide on a new "favorite." Was doing the same thing with Catie's CD two weeks ago. How lucky we are to have all of this great music at once. I was listening to the Kris CD this weekend with the volume just loud enough to drown out my 2-year old daughter's Barney video. The track "Mean Old Wind" came on and my little girl stopped watching Barney and started stomping her feet and clapping her hands. It was the cutest thing ever. I grabbed the video camera and let's just say if Kris ever gets to make a video for the song, I have some really cute footage for her! Are there any songs in particular that don't strike a chord? I love "Run," "Kiss That Counted," "Patience," and "Sugar Cane." I like "Jane," "Hush," and "The Big Reprise." "Elizabeth," "Walk Along the Highway," and "Now" don't hold my interest very well, but they're not bad songs. So I'd agree that it's not her best, but I still like it a lot. - -- Deb \\ indigo@mindspring.com \\ http://www.mindspring.com/~indigo ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Sep 2001 16:20:29 -0400 From: "Rob Litowitz" Subject: Re: [dads-yard] "Shirt" reactions I also can't agree with the criticism of "Shirt." Like Crash, it needs repeat listening of the entire disc to really appreciate the work. True, no individual song really stands out, but as a collection, they work together beautifully. It is a well crafted and well paced effort. In some respects, I like it better than CCIR, While Crash has the strongest opening set of songs (through about track 6) of any CD I own, I find that it tapers off after that I don't experience that reaction with Shirt. >>> Deb 09/05/01 03:48PM >>> At 03:42 PM 9/3/2001, ssimpson wrote: >So far I have to admit I'm not very enthusiastic about Catie's new one, even >though I'm trying hard to remain faithful. The new CD is "tre-awesome!!!!" Both Catie's and Kris'!!! My favorite Catie song from the album is prolly "Elizabeth." But they're all so great!!!! Kris' CD is just as magnificent. "Broken White Line" and "Cluck Old Hen" are my faves. You guys'll love it. Deb Talan's and Jenny Reynolds' CDs are on their way to my front porch, can't wait to hear those!
