Sounds great too! Had to go to a couple of stores before I found it...and then, they hadn't even gotten it on the shelf yet. Get yours now! I haven't heard most of these because I'm here on the other coast...unable to attend all those fun New England area gigs. I've only been able to listen once through so far, but really enjoyed it. Some different sounds, different styles than she's done before...always good to stretch and keep fresh. I find that I usually have to listen 4-5 times before I'm totally groovin' to the whole cd, but loved "Elizabeth", "Kiss That Counted", "Don't Lay Down", awwwww heck...on and on and on! She'll be out here in a couple of weeks...finally. Can't wait! It seems to progressed more into a pop cd than Crash Course in Roses was. Not a complaint. An observation. But, there is still that banjo and mandolin. So, not too pop. >smile< While just reading thru the lyrics I found myself close to tears w/ Elizabeth, Don't Lay Down and Love Takes the Best of You. Incredible lyrics. (of course). The Big Reprise is probably my favorite song on the whole cd. I love her use of words in that song. The same goes for the Bicycle Named Heaven. Great way of using words. On just a few listens... more so as background that actual LISTENING.. I find the cd to not be a strong as her earlier cds, sound wise. But, I am sure that after a few more listens, when her voice has wrapped around the words, and thrown themselves into my thoughts, I will be more than pleased. Can't wait for that moment. matthew ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 12:26:27 -0400 From: johanna Subject: Re: [dads-yard] Shirt Not Only Looks Good, but sounds Good i'm really liking the album. i've had it on repeat during work almost nonstop. i love when catie goes "MY SHIRT LOOKS GOOD ON YOU!"... it's so cute. ^_^ i also really like "kiss that counted"--v. catchy & sweet--guess that's why it's the first single. am so stoked that i'm going to see her w/lucy kaplansky next month! i missed her opening for dar last year--couldn't get anyone to go w/me, & figured since i was unemployed @ the time & the holidays were coming up i ought to save my $. i also think catie looks adorable on the pic inside the case (the one that shows when you remove the cd). i love those glasses! so... does anyone who has catie's ear want to suggest that she opens for dar when dar does the beacon here in nyc oct. 6? i've never seen catie live before, & i could sure go for seeing her twice in two months! ^_~ johanna http://free.freespeech.org/sugoi oh it's ashes to ashes but always the ocean... -dar williams ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Aug 2001 11:50:18 -0500 (CDT) From: Megan Peterson Subject: [dads-yard] totally catie I have to agree with the previous posts. This cd is wonderful, exactly what I was expecting after hearing most of the new material at concerts. I hadn't heard "Walk Along the Highway" or "Hush" but was pleasantly surprised by both. "My Shirt Looks Good on You" (the track and the album) is a favorite already. After my first listen, my immediate response was, "damn, is this girl in love or what?" thanks for the fab cd, catie. any plans for overseas tour dates? i'll be in Europe throughout the entire fall tour :( come on over--we'll change our itinerary to see your shows any time! - --Megan ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V3 #116 *******************************
