But, my, hasn't it been some exciting basketball? Better late than never, but it's kind of a shame Jackie Stiles had to wait till this late in her college career to get the attention she deserves. Wow! (I'm still rather late on the bandwagon myself, but she did come to my attention last year when she was battling out the scoring race with Penn's Diana Caramanico.) And another Wow! to Katie Douglas and Purdue (even if they cost me a bet). I was reading how after she lost both parents within a year, she thought of never playing again. Is there an over/under on the date when someone will see Pat Summitt smile again? The Lady Vols are mere mortals. Somehow, she will find a way to blame Kristen "Ace" Clement...I wonder if Ace could have a do-over, she'd choose somewhere else. And I hate to think that I've become adulterous, but this point-guard-loving gal didn't know she could be smitten by a towering presence in the paint (who wears 00). I think it's the shoes. Or the headband. I also was adulterous to the point I was swooning over Duke to win it all in a betting pool, and strayed from my usual pick of the UConn Huskies. Among the four left, UConn is the closest to where I live, and I have long liked coach Geno, a Philly guy, and several of his players, so Go Huskies! Sorry for the hoops talks, to the non-fans, but Catie is a basketball fan, so it has been determined that this is on-topic. Enjoy the rest of the games, everyone! I'm sure that whoever is the champ will be a worthy one. Take care, Deb (enjoying the new wind chimes I just bought...do they sound great when they are new!) Well, pretty exciting to hear the update from Catie on the new cd...I'll certainly be looking forward to August 1 for the release - and August 5 for her only currently scheduled SF Bay sighting! I do get envious of you New Englanders!! So, speaking of SF Bay and music, I'd like to put in a plug for a house concert I'll be hosting here in beautiful Half Moon Bay, CA featuring Seattle performing songwriter Marjorie Richards. I've mentioned her before on the list and word has gotten back that a few of you out there actually checked out her stuff - thanks! Now here's a wonderful rare opportunity for some of you to see her in live in the intimate house concert setting. Here are the quick and dirty details: Saturday, April 28 3:00pm Half Moon Bay, CA $10 suggested donation Please RSVP your reservation to get address and directions: CampGrrl63@aol.com or (650) 726-1017 The concert is planned for the afternoon so that you can make an adventure of it by heading to the coast for some music and mingling and then the evening is yours. Maybe this is a great time for a romantic dinner and night in a fine Half Moon Bay restaurant and bed & breakfast after a sunset walk along the beach? I'm reluctant to admit, but it really is true that Marjorie has been mistaken for Catie Curtis on more than a few occasions, but I can verify that Marjorie is not Catie! : ) However, she is a wonderful and talented singer and songwriter. I encourage you to visit her website at http://www.songs.com/marjorier/ and read all about her. You can even download a couple of her songs in MP3's for your listening pleasure. "There's a certain peacefulness that settles in from the first chord, as a kind of serenity begins to flow into your heart. With lyrics that beg listening to, Marjorie Richards' original material conveys stories about the deepest feelings of life, forged from the every day activities of life, like going to the grocery store, or the hair salon, or fixing the house. The music is unique in its contemporary folk style, yet similar to some mainstream music complete with the natural melodic hooks and superbly clean vocals, not unlike Sarah McLachlin." -- Central Washington's Entertainment News I REALLY HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!!
