A few of my friends are trying to find out more because the venue is unlisted and there is no show time. Is this a house concert? Can someone who knows what's going on please post to the list so my friends can be happy? Thank you! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jan 2001 18:49:05 -0800 From: "Patty" Subject: [dads-yard] Dandelion Hi All, I have lurked for awhile now, enjoying the conversations dropping into my inbox. Today I have been listening to www.Broadcast.com and ran across the Women of Kerriville. I have known of this CD but have not spent the time to really listen until today. For some of you who are wondering where they can hear Dandelion. Go there. The entire CD is available for listening. I am from the San Francisco Area. One day, years ago, I walked into BestBuy and noticed Truth from Lies as a pick. I was moved by the description and found myself putting the headphones on and listening to the entire CD right there. I bought it, brought it home, and quickly began spreading the news of this incredible talent. It still is my favorite, although I enjoy all of Catie's music. I saw Catie, when she opened for Mary-Chapin-Carpenter in Santa Rosa, Ca. I think we can all agree, she is a delight. Fox Run is a house concert series in Sudbury. I get no response from their website but you can email Laurie directly for info: - -- RAVEN ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Jan 2001 23:58:38 EST From: WoodellDC@aol.com Subject: [dads-yard] top cds Tawni wrote: << Spoil thyself is in Genesis somewhere I'm sure of it! >> No, I think it's Shakespeare: To thine own self be true, which loosely translated means you have to feed your own cd habit! Anyway, here, in no particular order are some of my faves for the year: "Somewhere Near Paterson," Richard Shindell "The Green World," Dar Williams "Tanglewood Tree," Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer "Gung Ho," Patti Smith (which boo-hoo! failed to place in the WXPN top 50) "Freedom," Melissa Ferrick "If You Lived Here..." Nields "Transcendental Blues," Steve Earle I also loved, upon hearing it on the WXPN countdown, Kasey Chambers. I had heard a few songs from when she did a World Cafe appearance, but loved loved loved the cd from start to finish when they played it all last week. And Tawni and I will have to agree to disagree about David Gray. I just did not get into that record -- at all. Sorry, Tawni. And while we are on the subject of non-Catie artists...an FYI that Dr. Lucy Kaplansky will be playing in Camden County, NJ, on Jan. 27, for all those interested. Have a Happy New Year, all. Thanks for the reminder Deb. ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V3 #1 *****************************
