To my friends on the list: Sorry for my silence and just want to let you know I am wetland happy. I've been reading recent furry of post regarding to Dandelion and the issue on bootleg. So I dug up some old mails Catie sent to the list and some of my personal correspondences with Catie (Yes, she does write back if you write to her!) which may shed some lights on this subjects. I did mastered Dandelion on CD which Catie is quite aware of -- in fact, I sent her a copy. In past I did send a CD copy to several listers. I would love to offer it again, but right now I am just plain too busy. However, if anyone is willing to organize a Dandelion CD tree or/and a new concert bootleg CD tree, I am willing to master a CD (CDs) and make each Branch a CD (CDs). Please respond to the list and maybe some listers will volunteer to organize. Anyway, here's the excerpts: - -------------------------- 9/2/98 For the news group: Hi catielist cool as heck people. I hear that there's been some discussion about passing around copies of tapes made at gigs. I totally support your doing that. Right now I'm not signed to a record label (more on that later), so I can officially say go for it. Once I sign with a label, it's better not to ask me (just do it!) because then it's the label's call. I heard, too, that there's some interest in a new record. (thanks!) There are two things going on. One is that I've been writing for the new record and I should be ready with songs and signed to a new label by late fall. I hope to record within a few months a release something in the spring or at latest next fall. The other is that I'm sorting through Dandelion and From Years To Hours with the intention of picking my favorite songs for a compilation called "the Early Tapes" or some such thing. If you've got input (fave songs from those two recordings) please fire away at CatieMail2@aol.com. Thanks for all your support. I've been having such a great time at gigs lately (Newport was out of control!!!!!) and I feel like your communicating and networking with each other is having a huge impact on live shows-- turnout and energy wise. I love it. Catielisters rock. Thanks and respect, catie curtis - ------------------------------ 2/10/99 Catie, One of a lister just made mm a copy of Dar's bootleg and she informed me of a request Dar has placed for a donation made to Snowden Environmental Trust when a bootleg copy is made. I am wondering if you have any such project we can donate money to when we make your bootleg - such as Women's Shelter or some other project dear to your heart - to lessen our guilty conscience. Would you please let us know? - ----------------------- 2/25/99 Hi Masaki, Thanks for writing regarding attaching a suggested donation to the sale of bootlegs (as Dar does). I've been considering it for the past couple weeks, and I've come to feel that I don't want to do that. I like the idea, but it also rubs me the wrong way somehow. It's possible that I'll change my mind, because it would be really cool to get people to donate to something worthwhile, but I also feel like that's a personal decision which I wouldn't want to impose on people. Thanks for the thought-provoking query, and I hope you'll excuse me if I DO change my mind and bring it up later on. For now, I just feel that bootlegs are refreshingly free of attachments of any kind and I don't want to load them with complications! By the way, were you the one who put together the Dandelion bootlegs? If that was you, thanks! best, cc ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V2 #126 *******************************
