Hope you all had a lovely yummy Thanksgiving. I was just sitting here, trying to write a report, and my mind thus promptly proceeded to wander. I began to think about a new song I heard on the radio this morning (Seattle Mountain FM 103.7 - awsome Sunday program!). It was Bruce Springsteen's _Highway Patrolman_ as sung by Dar Williams on the Badlands Tribute cd. Wow. I hadn't heard it before, but it sounded like Dar, so I did a little investigation and lo, I was right. Really good song, do any of you have the tribute cd? Who's that singing backup vocals for Dar? Anyways, I've been blessed with another small gift this past week. After seeing a Richard Shindell show last week, a fellow catielister gave me my first listen to the amazing Wendy Bucklew. I hear it I hear it, a resounding "finally" is coming from somewhere near the Bay Area :) Yep, you guys know your music. Wendy has been making my long drives very pleasant. I look forward to getting to know her music a bit more and maybe catching her live at some point. And maybe I'll write something Catie related next time... Enjoy your week everyone! Tawni, now it's time for you to hear (or see) Veda Hille! :) John - who's not seen Tawni since May 1997 (Catie Curtis, Santa Cruz) - -- RAVEN ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 00:21:46 EST From: ILSparkle@aol.com Subject: [dads-yard] kasey chambers = and a crash course in roses... i went to pick up a crash course in roses off n on for a month and can't find any of catie releases where I live...so, i found a place to order a copy... so, till it gets to me? i've been listening to kasey chambers... julie miller does back up...i've met julie & buddie miller dec of '99 when dar williams, lucy kaplansky and richard shindell were touring as Cry Cry Cry... when i met dar in co. they asked my name and when i said "jolene" they sang "jolene-by dolly parton" right there in the lobby of olde town school of folk music in perfect 3 part harmony...haha i hate that song but i luved the rendition ;) as for catie? i can't wait 2 tell ya what i think of a crash course in roses < 3 lv, Jolene ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Nov 2000 00:23:56 -0500 (EST) From: MLErocks@webtv.net (Irina) Subject: [dads-yard] NYC Hi everyone!!! By the way, I'm "napstering" something of Veda's right now. I'll let you know what I think later. -T ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V2 #107 *******************************
