The church burned down in late summer, so that would make the song a bit recent to be on an album already! This song was GREAT, I can't wait until it makes its way onto an album. Anyway, Catie was INCREDIBLE as usual, and shared some fun stories, notably something about Dar Williams being the stripper at her bachelor party, which was definitely funny. She also invited Kris Delmhorst up to sing Soulfully with her as an encore, which was a treat. - -Josh ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 10:44:05 -0500 From: Elaine Bean Subject: [dads-yard] Catie in Boston Saw Catie and Dar last night. Catie was in a great mood - all bubbly and all smiles. She told some very cute stories. Don't remember a setlist though. She said she'd be back to Boston in December at Club Passim - Dec. 16? I'm not certain. ANyone else there who knows for sure? Did anyone here stay for the entire concert? I had to leave after the first encore, and missed whatever Ms. Dar did for the end of the show... ?? Please tell?? - -Megan At 10:44 AM 11/20/00 -0500, Elaine Bean wrote: >Saw Catie and Dar last night. Catie was in a great mood - all bubbly >and all smiles. She told some very cute stories. It is not on any of her current CDs. I'm pretty sure it is a new song. Maybe it will be on her next album? Speaking of which, I wonder when Catie will be in the studio again? Based on what she performed at the show I saw, and what I've read on this list, it seems like she's working on a lot of new material. Here is a list of the new stuff I've heard of.... 1. The adoption song, with a chorus of something like "Sometimes love takes the best of you." 2. The church burning down song. 3. The beautiful Elisabeth song, referencing a train going over the Ohio River. 4. A song about crushes, with a chorus something like "Jane keeps falling after you." I think these are all new songs, but someone correct me if I'm wrong. Any that I missed? I thought this was about her love; calling her from whereever she can; wanting to hear her voice, just missing her so much. Or maybe the song you reference is not the same song she did last night? Oh, and Dar's encores - the only one I know for sure that she did is the Christians and the Pagans. My memory is so bad for some things. Other times I can remember the most obscure details. I thought this was about her love; calling her from whereever she can; wanting to hear her voice, just missing her so much. You're right. It is the same song. She used the train, with its 92 boxcars pushing across the Ohio to its destination, as a metaphor for how nothing would stop her from reaching her love. At least that was my interpretation. It is a beautiful song. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 20 Nov 2000 11:10:50 -0600 From: jeff.a.hudson@ac.com Subject: Re: [dads-yard] new catie songs Very clever.
