Here are the lyrics found on her website sounds like what you are looking for: ELBOW TO ELBOW I've watched this thing from the beginning and I've watched both sides to see who's winning I've watched you climb up, fall down, skin your knee without a sound no sound Now don't you get the wrong impression, It's not another one of my self-impressed digressions. I've seen the fruit, rotten on the vine, and I've seen your eyes, their broken lines You say there's some kind of magic here, some root, some river running deep and clear But I say if you step up to the river's edge you'll see there's no water there, just a dangerous ledge Elbow to elbow and three rungs down, you're on the ladder of love, headed underground headed underground to wander down underground to wander sky Shoulder to shoulder and five miles high, on the ladder of love in a darkening sky Let's take a walk on by the bowery, we'll wag our arms and talk of how we came to be two girls Sixteen flights above this city, two girls afraid of getting old and lone Well lonely is a word I use without the moon, lonely is a word I'm hearing much too soon I wear my blue badge of solitude and I know these words aren't doing any good Mythology has played a trick upon us all: to think that love isn't too far, to far to fall O no, I'm bad, I'm bad, getting better it's all love, you bow down Hope that helps. You can buy it at her web site, and I encourage anyone who enjoys Shawn Colvin to take a chance on it. She's also half of the band September 67, who have a rather lackluster song on a Lilith Fair compilation many of you may already own. - -- Deb \\ indigo@mindspring.com \\ http://www.mindspring.com/~indigo At 02:46 PM 11/4/2000, Scrreech@aol.com wrote: >last night i heard on a song on a 3rd generation mix tape (ie the person who >made it is unavailable) and there was an incredible song on it - and i can't >figure out who sings it... the title given was "elbow to elbow" (also sings >about shoulder to shoulder and there's a line about the bowery)... it was >primarily a guitar based sing, and the womon's voice sounds a lot like shawn >colvin. i thought if there was anyone who might recognize this song - it'd >be someone on this list.... > >thanks, >rebecca. > > >* * * * >"Someone told me it's unnatural that I had sex with a girl, but as far as >I know, we obeyed all the laws of Physics." > --- Ariella Rasputin Wallflower ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 5 Nov 2000 12:11:32 -0800 (PST) From: Becky Rickert Subject: [dads-yard] Catie in KY Hey all, I'm fairly new to this list, ie. this is my first post, but I've been lurking for a while. Like Diane, I recognize people from the Ferrick list (Hi!). I've been a fan of Catie's for about a year. My gf's mother (of all people) introduced me to her music and I haven't been able to get enough since. I saw Catie play in Newport, KY opening for Dar last night. I'm a long time Dar fan and saw her this summer at the Newport folk festival but I had never seen Catie live and was really psyched. I was not disappointed. She has a wonderful personality and surpasses her recordings when playing live. So much emotion. I was rather surprised not to hear a single song from Crash Course in Roses, but not at all depressed, as she stuck mostly to Truth From Lies, Catie Curtis and new material. She opened with Memphis and in no particular order played Radical, Dad's Yard, Hole In The Bucket, nameless songs about a church burning and adoption as well as those I forgot to mention. I want to make a special reference to the amazing song she wrote earlier that day about missing your partner on the road. She mentions the Ohio River and a love named Elizabeth. I would love to find out if anyone else hears this song in the future, gorgeous guitar, heartfelt lyrics...wow. Her set, although close to 45 min long, was entirely too short. I almost wanted to go home so Dar didn't ruin my Catie high. :-) Dar was wonderful as usual. You go to a Dar Concert to listen to her stories between each and every song. She always has an amusing antidote for every song that's never the same as last time you saw her. I was happy she came out for a second encore by herself as a concert with her band is like listening to her CDs. I much prefer just her and her guitar. Dar stuck around afterward to sign things, which is always a treat. Although Catie didn't have a official signing, we found her outside by the Tour bus after Dar's set. We chatted for a bit and had a picture taken. She was so cute, she was like, "you know, Dar is signing inside". We were like, Dar who? :-) Ok, I'm done now. Keep the reviews coming, I love to read about concerts, makes me feel like I was there. Oh, does anyone know Catie's policy on bootlegs? I would love to get my hands on a tape or two. Anyway, Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! ~Becky __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products.
