Hey all... It's been a while since I've posted anything, but thought I'd add a few thoughts and song or two in this thread...I know it's a little slow...oh well! Lately, the Catie mood song that's been applicable to my life is "Magnolia Street"...Dar's is "Iowa (Traveling III)". A lot of that is because I have a new love in my life that's been making me especially happy : ). "Magnolia Street" because of the way it just hits me in that spot in the heart...and brings heavy love sighs. "Iowa" mostly because of a situational experience with my lover and I...and memories of driving down the Northern California coast at sunset...mmmm. As for other songs and artists that are my mood music lately... I've really been enjoying Seattle area songwriter Marjorie Richards' CD entitled "Here". Got to see her perform in her first SF Bay gig area earlier this year and have really enjoyed the CD. Strong stories about life, creative melodies that carry the story, strong guitar playing that backs it all up, and a smooth soprano voice. You can check her out at www.songs.com/marjorier. Hard to pick one favorite, but "My Back Yard" has a wonderful, liberating story about a young girl growing up a tomboy and being very repressed by family and society...and then someone comes into her life who helps her grow into who she really is...an empowering song. At the same I love "If I Told You"...a haunting, wishing, sexy little ditty! : ) The other artist I met that same night was Erika Luckett. She's got a beautiful sound with Latin influences and smooth vocals. Her guitar playing is incredible...lovely Brazilian flavors and some great songwriting. Her site is www.erikaluckett.com. She's recently won the Northern California Songwriter's Association (NCSA) with "Evangelina" a catchy tune on her CD "Tinted Glass". My faves on that CD are "Evangelina", "Fire", "Penn. Ave.", and with special meaning for me is "Journey"..."Let the journey be your destination". So...that's enough for now...until next time... Happy listening!
