I'm not bitter at all that I have to work and miss their Keswick show outside Philly. Not at all! If you check out www.darwilliams.net, that's an unofficial site by a devoted fan and you can check out Dar dates and compare with Catie dates, because Catie isn't at all shows. darwilliams.com is dead, for all intents and purposes. Don't go there, unless you want to discover that, hey, that Cry Cry Cry project is really taking off! However, I think it does maintain some links to guitar tabs/chords for Dar. I know, for instance, that it is only Dar at the WXPN festival in South Jersey on 9/17, but that's a big show with a big lineup handpicked by WXPN. Jess Klein and Jonatha Brooke fill the role of female-singer-not-as-big-as-Dar in that lineup. On another subject, I was listening to "Crash Course in Roses" on the ride into work the other day, and thought about how much I use "World Don't Owe Me" as kind of a song to keep me grounded when I get into a funk about something. And even though it is a "snap out of it" song instead of a "there, there it'll be all right" song, it works for me. I mean, the narrator doesn't give any signs, for instance, that she will stop planting seeds, just that she will not expect any particular result from the seed-planting, but will enjoy the process. Which to me means enjoying life. So, in an effort to revive this wonderful list, what other songs do folks out there use for inspiration, either to reinforce a particular sentiment or mood, or, maybe, as I do, to get me out of a funk? Deb ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2000 11:19:52 -0400 From: "Rob Litowitz" Subject: Re: [dads-yard] Catie&Dar/"mood" songs Good thread. We as of late have been listening to the wonderful Terri Hendrix's wonderful album "Places in Between." Many of the songs speak about rebounding and resiliency following dissappointment. One particular song has become a family favorite, which even our 8 year old loves to sing around the house. In the cryptic and mystical "Wishing" the narrator speaks about spending "Three days inthe wishing well.' The chorus, featuring an almost baroque harpsichord laced melody goes "Oh why bother at all? Pick yourself up, just to see the fall. Underground, underground, underground, underground. Underwater I can tell, the secrets at the bottom of the well." Even when we hit rock bottom, there are still magical secrets to explore. Rob >>> 09/08/00 10:56AM >>> << Well thanks for answering a question I wanted to ask but I hadn't gotten around to asking. I guess that means I really will be able to see Catie open for Dar in October. It will be my 2nd time seeing Catie and my first time seeing Dar. I can hardly wait!! >> Yeah, cool!
