(much like tgw) so its certainly different than her older stuff, but has not lost the true jess klein-ness. her voice is as sweet as ever and the songs are great. also the pictures on it are very cool. another thing i heard about is that jess klein is opening for richard shindell at the bottom line on 9/14. and dave carter and tracy grammer are on that bill too. wow i really really wish i could be at that one.... jess b www.geocities.com/amari913 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Aug 2000 01:13:52 GMT From: "Lynn Korhonen" Subject: [dads-yard] Dar & Catie I agree whole-heartedly with the replies regarding Dar Williams. Indeed the world would be a better place if everyone listened to Dar. I think anyone who loves Catie, will no doubt find themselves captivated by Dar's witty and touching lyrics along with immaculate musicianship and "hit you in the gut" vocals. I've seen Dar three times so far, and I'm looking forward to seeing her in Madison, WI in late September. Catie and Dar are both compassionate storytellers who the ability to become the characters created in their lyrics...they both produce consistent albums with the ability to create foot-stomping tunes as well as touching ballads. Looking forward to "The Green World," Lynn _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Things have been a little hectic (and exciting) around here, but I wanted to ask since we are on one of my most favorite topics in the world - Dar Williams - whether anyone out there had ordered her "special" internet copy of her new cd "The Green World". I am talking about the one with an extra song and more in depth liner notes. I thought I ordered it a few weeks ago late one night, but now I am thinking I may have dreamt about it? Just to satisfy my delirium, did anyone else order and receive their copy yet? I believe we were supposed to receive it earlier than the cd was to be released, but now I'm hearing that the cd has been released and I still haven't received it. Please let me know if you are in the know. To the one who wrote about the Rocky Mtn Folk Festival, how was the rest of the festival??? I love festivals. No copies, extra pages, missing pages, pages falling out, long delays until they get it fixed, etc. I'd suggest calling Razor and Tie and telling them your dilemma, just to get it on the record. As for the record itself, I love it. Different from her earlier stuff, fuller, multi-instrumental sound and multi-vocals, big-picture subjects, but excellent! It makes you think about lots of things. And Tawni, how come you're not on the Dar list? Take care, Deb (sad she will miss Catie and Dar....have I played this one note long enough yet?...sad she missed Sonia at the Tin Angel, but at least got stop by and say Hello!) ------------------------------ End of dads-yard-digest V2 #56 ******************************
