I'm new to the list and I'm new to the music of Susan McKeown. For this reasons I have a few questions and I hope you can help me. A few weeks ago a friend and I were testing our hi-fi system and he played to me "Salome" which was a great recording and even a greater song. Fascinated by the music and voice of Susan McKeown I bought the CD and here comes my first question. Is there a discography out there where I can see in which sequence the albums were released? Are the CDs "Bones" and "Prophecy" the only recordings with original songs by Susan McKeown? It seems that all other albums contain re-recordings of traditional music?! Is Susan's band "The Chanting House" a band by it's own and do they still exist and work with her? A few days ago I bought the CD "Sweet Liberty" and I have a problem with it. A few songs have ugly distortion in high frequency. It is not extreme but clear audible. For example in track 5 "Sweet Liberty/ Promenade" at 2:43 and 2:48. Such distortions can be found on other tracks as well. Has someone the same problem or do I have a faulty copy of the CD. A lot of questions and I hope you can help me. Sorry for my English, but it is not my native language. All the best, Matthias ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 28 Nov 2005 11:18:38 +0100 From: Coos de Graaf Subject: Re: Newbie questions Hallo Matthias! > and here comes my first question. The album on the right hand side is the oldes (Bones), the one on the left (Sweet Liberty) is the most recent one. Once the website is fully up, it will feature more information on the albums... :) > Are the CDs "Bones" and "Prophecy" the only recordings with original > songs by Susan McKeown? However, the "Mother" album (which she did with Cathy Ryan and Robin Spielberg) contain some original songs (especially check out "Jennie's Song"). The other albums "Through The Bitter Frost & Snow" and "A Winter Talisman" contain original material and traditionals. "Bushes & Briars", "Sweet Liberty" and "Lowlands" are collections of traditional material only. There's a special offer for "A Winter Talisman" right now actually, so you could get that one at a reduced price or buy two copies for an even lower price and give one away as a christmas gift! > A lot of questions and I hope you can help me. (safe guess as there are quite a few!) Cheers! Coos ------------------------------ End of curiouser V7 #1 **********************
