It was the 3rd time I've seen the Crans, the other 2 being in 1999. I was about two thirds towards the back in a venue which held about 3,000 and was packed sold out.. The band came on at 9:00 pm and opened up with WUASTC and the song rocked really well. Dolores had on a red dress and the mask. You could just tell that it was going to be a good night as the sound quality was superb technically while the band played with emotion and spirit right from the start. ANALYSE was next and it too sounded tight. ZOMBIE was next and took on a whole new meaning to the NYC crowd as Dolores said the song was about terrorism and she was very very sorry for what happened here. It was angry, filled with raw emotion and very vibrant. It brought chills up and down my spine. I'll give my thoughts on some of the highlights to me. Dolores gave the intro to ANIMAL INSTINCT but had the setlist wrong as the song she intoduced was really to be JOE as she explained she had that wrong and that this one was for her grandpa. AI was indeed next as she mentioned it was for her son. AI is one of my favs and this sounded great. ODE TO MY FAMILY was classic and drew big cheers from the crowd from the opening chords. It brought back many memories for me. And more spine chills. JUST MY IMAGINATION was sweet and saucy and bouncy and perfect and a great song live. Dolores was dancing around big time by this point. LOUD AND CLEAR was done technically very well and the sound as for all of the songs was tight. Dolores was now wearing a red top with purple sparkly pants. PRETTY was next and is one of my favs and how Dolores does what she does with her voice I'll never know. Awesome. Dolores threw daffodils to the crowd during DAFFODIL LAMENT and said to remember this moment. SUNDAY is one of my favs and I'm glad they played it but they played it too fast. Mystify me why they did that - maybe they were too excited or hyped up as all during the show Dolores mentioned how this was such a great city and how they were glad to be here. FREE TO DECIDE brought an introduction of freedom and she and the crowd were dancing a lot during this one. SALVATION saw her run from one end of the stage to the other and back many times with arms flailing - aha aha aha aha vocaling. Classic Crans! I loved it. RIDICULOUS THOUGHTS had great guitar playing by Noel and was high enrgy and sounded great and loud. I prefer loud concerts and this one was indeed loud complete with ringing ears afterwords. The encore had Dolores in all black with black hat. LINGER had a blue cloudy background to it as Dolores said this was the song that brought them to the US years ago. The crowd appreciated what a beautiful song it is. CHOCOLATE BROWN was slow and sweet as Dolores mentioned it was for her daughter. There was a quiet pause when the song ended for about 30 seconds before they ripped into PROMISES. I absolutely love that song and it's their best song done live to me. The band was on fire and played PROMISES perfectly as all members excelled with their instruments and voices. I'll never forget that moment. Highlight of the concert for me! Oh oh oh oh oh the promises we made. All during the show I noticed many couples holding each other and dancing slowly with each other. Not many danced slowly to this song but I rocked out to it. Thanks guys!! The final song had Dolores put on a T-shirt with the American flag on it and she said "We're behind you 150%"! DREAMS was highlight video film material as she yelled DREAMS and brought the house down. Everyone was into this one as the band played flawlessly and Dolores had the crowd sing half the lyrics. Classic Crans. As the band left the stage and I left the venue all I could think of was - Boy can she sing, how does she do that? And that the other bandmates are extremely talented and sound great. Not many things give me chills up and down my spine but tonight for a few short moments there were some. For those few magical moments make it all worth it. Thanks Crans - keep making beautiful music together for us! It is greatly appreciated! It was really a great concert...< Yup it was! It was funny how she disappeared into the crowd during Linger only to appear to us folks in the back on the opposite end of the stage! Lucky you! Great show!!! ------------------------------ End of cranlist-digest V5 #23 *****************************
