The Yahoo mailing lists gets a few more messages than this one. There's a Yahoo club which seems to get decent posts. The iMusic board is dead... they even changed the format on that. The Zombieguide message boards get a good many messages every day (and no, you don't even need to sign up to post). I'm sure when when the new album comes out, there will be lots to talk about. Oh, and in case you haven't heard "Analyse" yet... well, check the official page. -Alex - ----Original Message Follows---- From: Suzy Aston To: unlisted-recipients:; (no To-header on input) CC: cranlist@smoe.org Subject: %Cran: analyse Date: Mon, 16 Jul 2001 23:30:58 -0400 Hello dormant members :) Well the other day I heard about the last couple of bars of the latest Cranberries song. I was wondering if anybody else has heard it as yet. I had to agree with the DJ that it definitely had a Dreams-esque quality to it - at least in the instrumentation and production. Dolores was doing a lot of her vocal tricks, but that was about all I could get from the song unfortunately. I remain intrigued as to how Stephen Street will work this new album - he'll probably do a lot of great things for sound...but can he get Dolores to improve upon her lyrics which seemed (in my opinion) to have been pretty lacking over the past two albums? I was wondering if one of the reasons this list is fairly quiet is because there are quite a few other Cranberries lists? How many are there? Are a lot of you on those other lists? Also, there seems to be consistent news coming from the official website, but no-one here is talking about it...is it because they just stick it on their unofficial website and hope that we visit there? Am I sounding too cynical here? Anyway, love to hear some feedback! Take care everyone and a special shout out to Greg, Rannie, Francois and Tim, I hope you are all doing well! Am I sounding too cynical here? Hey, Suzy! I was just wondering if you were still around. I hadn't heard from you in ages! I can't really comment on the other lists. I'm not a member of them, nor do I even investigate their existence. As always, I'm busy with work and other things, so I don't get to surf the web much. It's hard to believe that this list has been around as long as it has, with quite a few of the original members still around. I know that personally I tend to agree with you, Suzy, that the last two albums weren't quite as "spiffy" as the first two. I think that as the Cranberries changed their sound and went for a harder edge, my musical tastes went in the other direction to softer, more melodic music. Combine that with a concert schedule which saw the Cranberries nowhere near me, and my interest in the band waned. I still have my Cranberries collection, but I haven't been constantly adding more material to it. Overall, I've been pretty indifferent to the band for a long time. I suppose maybe the new album will bring about a change. I can hope, that is. If anyone's interested in the music I've been listening to the past couple of years, here's a list of a few: Sarah McLachlan, Tara MacLean, Emm Gryner, Jonatha Brooke, Sarah Slean, K's Choice, Delerium, Craig David, Afro Celt Sound System, The Corrs, Sheryl Crow, Dido Some of these artists I'm sure people have heard of, most are probably more of a "who?" There's many, many more, but those are probably some of the most played in my CD player. Recently, I've also been listening to Naimee Coleman and Maren Ord. Both recently released albums - Naimee in the UK and Maren in Canada. >Anyway, love to hear some feedback! > >Take care everyone and a special shout out to Greg, Rannie, Francois and >Tim, I hope you are all doing well! > >Suzy Greg Teltschik gteltschik@mindspring.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 17 Jul 2001 21:48:36 +0200 From: "Paolo Sotgiu" Subject: Re: %Cran: analyse yeah, k's choice rocks, my fave ones with the crans i'm sure the next album will bring back the cranberries to the success they deserve, i've heard something of analyse and i can yet listen the stephen street influence in the sound, can't wait to hear the whole album bye! ------------------------------ End of cranlist-digest V4 #38 *****************************
