================================================== The Cranberries Argenberries: http://go.to/cranberries http://www.angelfire.com/ar/argenberries Envia gratis tus postales musicales de Navidad desde http://www.mixmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Dec 2000 18:31:29 EST From: HottyMo@aol.com Subject: %Cran: Do I have to go to the website to get the News?? Hey all, Seeing how we're all in a lull here in the time between the new release and the DVD (Which is good enough reason to buy one of my most favorite possessions in the world) I want an answer to this question, and it is a serious question: Why is it that a certain person on this newsgroup has to flaunt the fact that he has EXCLUSIVE NEWS and has to tease the news and make us saunter over to his website (which suffers from a really annoying kink that makes users input their names, and also is at times awkward to navigate)? I mean this as gently and nicely as possible because I really just want there to be a sharing of news instead of this persons' need, rather compulsion, to have to make sure every bit of EXCLUSIVE NEWS is his and his alone. Please, there is a reason why this is called a NEWSgroup. It saves me the hassle of navigating YOUR website to get a line of news that you could have put in your email instead of baiting me like a fish. I'm rather fed up, if you can tell, and being someone who has been on this list for YEARS I think I can rightfully say this without fear of reproach. You know who you are D.K. and I would appreciate it if you would keep from using this list as your own personal selling grounds. Hawk your wares somewhere else like ebay, because if you persist I will continue to call you out and make sure everyone else doesn't have to endure your Holier-Than-Thou Emails. Thanks for letting me rant. If no one else feels this way, I apologize. Well, I suppose I should say something here.. As most of you know, I run the Herald at Zombieguide, another Cran news page... to be perfectly honest, I thought you were referring to me when you started this message (and in messages past). What can I say without being too offensive or too defensive? I run a news site, and the site is primarily news. I, too, occasionally use this list to announce stuff that's on the page. If I didn't what would be the point? One can't run a decent page without advertising it somehow, and I feel that people here would actually "care" and not so much be annoyed. And if I just post everything here, a "members-only" list, what would be the point of even keeping up a site? Not every Cran fan in the world on this list, and so therefore, I keep an updated site that everyone can appreciate, not just a few. I don't find a Favorites list a hassle at all. In fact, I've got about a dozen news sites on my list (not all Cran, of course) that I just go down the list every day. I don't expect everything to be served in my lap for me. I just run a site for the fans and I'm not expecting any profit out of it in any way. Anyway, I know this message wasn't directed towards me, but it does impact me a bit. I'm just describing how I see, and I'm not looking for an argument at all. If you don't like "website hopping" then so be it. To me, it would be more efficient to keep the news at one site where anyone who wants to get new info can go to rather than for me to post the same content at 10 different places. -Alex - ----Original Message Follows---- From: HottyMo@aol.com To: owner-cranlist@smoe.org, cranlist@smoe.org Subject: %Cran: Do I have to go to the website to get the News??
