[C Patterson Subject: %Cran: download a full length Dreams video here... For people using PC's: The Dreams music video is in MPEG format, about 36 MB in size, on a very fast web server, follow these instructions: (if you have a Mac, read below) 1) be prepared to download a large file. you probably will want a program that will "resume" a download in case it gets interrupted, that way you won't have to start from the beginning if it gets interrupted. 2) go to http://www.crosswinds.net/~meceman/ - scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the LAST link on the page, called "Download Formula SAE Project Files", I've given the file a very odd name, and its a self-decrypting file so that the file seems "legal" to people without the password. Note: Crosswinds does not allow files like this, thus the name/encryption and "fake" website. 3) run the downloaded program, and when it asks for the password, type "cranberries" (without quotes) 4) open the extracted file as you would any other MPEG video. the last part of the message here is just extra.... - -------------------------------------------------- I tested the file on this server, i got stable 110 kilobytes/sec on my DSL. I don't know which Dreams video this file is, I think there's 3 versions right ? This one doesn't seem to take place in a pub, and Dolores isn't wearing a big white dress in this one, it starts out with frogs and beads dropping on a water-like surface. the video is 400x300 pixels in size, 30 frames per second, however the video quality isn't the best around, as is the sound quality (but its pretty good, I'm sure you people won't complain). Most MPEG music videos are 320x240 pixels, and have a little higher quality overall (but obviously smaller screen size). The video's audio track is recorded at a pretty high sound volume level, so maybe turn down your sound volume (of the system, not speakers) to improve quality (because at high system volumes there may be "clipping" that occurs on the audio). If you are on a Macintosh... I'm afraid you can only decrypt that file if you run Windows on your mac, this may be done using "Virtual PC" or something similar. I myself am on a Mac, and I put this program together with Virtual PC (VPC). You could get a friend to decrypt the file for you on a PC, then maybe copy the mpg to a zip disk and away you go... a different topic... I haven't been keeping up to date on stuff happening in the berries community recently... could somebody give me a very very brief summary of the really important points I've missed? I know there's a DVD coming out soon, does anyone know which Dreams video will be on there? I'm more interested in video's like Zombie etc, maybe some of those? Have the berries been on tour recently? that kind of stuff. Is there a new album scheduled for release soon? thanks!!
