MTV sucks, there's no way around it. My suggestion is to give up on MTV all together. I believe that there is an alternative to MTV/VH1. I'm not sure this applies to those outside the USA, but Bravo has a spin-off channel called the Independent Music Channel (or something like that). For those of you who like videos that may be your way to go. I don't care for them myself because (for me) they ruin my interpretation of the music. As for radio stations, the petition will work, I would suggest giving them a call also. Peace, George P.S. I did sign the petition though, Cran Fans of the world unite and throw off the chains of Brittany Spears, et al. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 6 Apr 100 10:23:07 +0200 (MET DST) From: Francois Gibello Subject: Re: %Cran: Regarding the petition Hi there. I have to agree with Suzan and Greg. You should not give a damn about MTV because their "music" channel is hilarious. I happen to watch MTV, but that was some time ago. Now they are sending all day long the same and the same Videos, so oftenly that you can almost notice that some programs plays the videos at different days with the very same order.the best is MTV week ends, every five weekend they can't help but play more or less the same artist again. Ask a 3 y o baby and he will make a better schedule or at list a decent one, even if it is totally random... But it's a pity to learn that the berries aren't aired that much on the radio in your respective country. I guess you are listening to the wrong radio stations again. I can say that in Sweden, we have a lot of radio stations which use to air "old" hits. So You can catch "Dreams", "Linger" really easily,(I mean at list once in a week, plus the usual singles...like "you and me" right now... but...and that is interesting one hardly use to get "Zombie". Zombie was THE song which made the berries famous. But have you noticed that thought it might have been the most played berries song in the world, you can hardly listen to it anywhere now... I am still "nostalgique" about the year 92 / 93 when I was listening to a band nobody knew about. They were irish and called themselves "the cranberries"... And as Greg, since that time I have just focussed on their music, not on the Radio stations nor the TV channels which used and abused our irish fellow just to get More money because they would get more Audience because it was fashionable to play Zombie...Loud if possible. The berries (And I think I am not mistaken) know how their fans are faithfull, and they don't really need Island to push the promotion of their album , because they never lost their right feeling. They have earned a lot of money, but that does not mean they do want more, which would (I guess all will agree) be a usual human behaviour... nope. The Berries are different, and you should have known this by now. They have told it from the very beginning that they would stay the same even if success would made them big. So sometimes, instead of complaining just "enjoy their silence". Or their music. How many of you still listen to a whole album instead of zapping directly to the song you have seen on TV or heard on Radio. I am asking. But I don't want to know. Ask this one for yourself. But I am sure most of you, Hard Dies Fellow Berries still don't even take the time to listen to a whole album, at least 1h of berries music...Just don't give a damn about TV or radio anymore. And focus on the right thing. That is to say : The music. I hope most a lot of you will get what music is all about...and forget to struggle with the medias...because be sure that your cause is lost already. And there is nothing you can do about it. So my last piece of advice (a tribute to a band called Ned's Atomic Dustbin) the only alternative band I know who had 2 bassists...it was damn rocking...) " Kill your Television ! Women Without Pride I'll try to be nice, be nice if I can I will try to be nice and please my man I'll try to let on that it's a perfect day And I'll try to pretend she's going away I'll try to let on that she never persisted I'll try to let on she never was twisted I'll try to pretend she doesn't exist And I'll try to let on that you never kissed her kissed her, kissed her, kissed her, kissed her, kissed her, kissed her, kissed her You don't see things like I do You don't see things like I do la la la la la la I don't believe that she has the audacity I don't believe that women without pride women without pride, women without pride, women without pride, women without pride You don't see things like I do You don't see things like I do ------------------------------ End of cranlist-digest V3 #61 *****************************
