I don't think that various media are boycotting the Cranberries because they hate the media, it's all about selling, and making a profit. A petition of emails from around the world is not going to help a local tv station, at least I don't think so. If the Cranberries are popular in that area or country, then they will be played - because advertisers love it when tv or radio play things people want to hear....Am I making sense? A northern Canadian radio station will not care too much about what a guy in Japan thinks...(especially if this station is not aired on the internet). I think the main problem is that the Cranberries are just not at the height of popularity right now. Does anyone else think it's an interesting move that they are going back to Stephen Street? AFter all their principles about how they want to be in control of the production, that he didn't give them room to do their own thing...they are now going back...why is that? I personally think it's a very wise move as Stephen Street seemed to give them the best sound by far. So I'm pleased. Anyway I would be interested in people's thoughts Ralph O'Neills wrote: > Hi Cranfans, > > As you probably have noticed there's really a lack of Cran-airplay on most > TV- and radio-channels worldwide. Hi, It's me again (getting tired of me, huh?). I've made a little page which makes it easier to sign the petition to get the Cranberries aired... So far I've received eight replies, but I guess there'll be much more, right? So, if you think the Cranberries deserve more air-play, please sign the petition at http://www.noviomagum.com/cranrevolution Yours, Ralph "Laat de klagers nu maar klagen, er is altijd kans van slagen, wie de moed opgeeft verdient niet dat 'ie leeft" O'Neills (Thanks to Dimitri Frenkel Frank, Robert Long and Boudewijn de Groot) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Apr 2000 22:52:57 -0500 From: "gteltschik@mindspring.com" Subject: %Cran: Regarding the petition I have to agree with Suzy on this one. I applaud your efforts to get the Cranberries onto MTV and on the radio and all, but I'm not sure you'll have either the sheer numbers to influence the powers that be nor will they be ready to listen from people outside of their current market. I find that in general, there is a lot of really good music that never gets played on the radio. Radio is about popular acts like Brittany, N'Sync, and the like. Right now, that mostly means sugary pop with little substance. I don't worry too much about the radio and instead focus on the music itself. Personally, I don't watch MTV or listen to the radio. I find them both annoying. Greg ------------------------------ End of cranlist-digest V3 #60 *****************************
