I also think collective soul was far better than Cracker. I was at the pnc bank arts center. I thought collective soul was just loud, but it went on into the cranberries. around a quarter of the way through the show, someone realized it sounded aweful and fixed it, so it wasn't too bad. We got to hear most of the songs okay. I think we ought ot lobby for the next crantour to have a GOOD opening act. I vote for a chick band. anyone else? - -----Original Message----- From: Brett To: cranlist@smoe.org Date: Monday, August 30, 1999 5:12 PM Subject: %Cran: Aug. 27 Toronto Boot? >Hello! > >Well, I figure I should ask if anyone knows of any bootlegs floating around >from the Toronto show on August 27? Personally I would vote for Tori Amos this year. Im going to see Cranberries this Saturday in Indianapolis (I cant wait!!) and then the next day to see Tori Amos/Alanis Morissette at the very same venue! Personally I think it would have been an awesome concert to start off quietly and emotionally with Tori Amos, then end it all rocking out to the Cranberries..I think I would be in heaven. oh well, this weekend will prove beyond fun! - --yet another Melissa > ---------- > From: Melissa > Sent: Tuesday, August 31, 1999 6:31 AM > To: Brett > Cc: cranlist@smoe.org > Subject: Re: %Cran: Aug. 27 Toronto Boot? > > I also think collective soul was far better than Cracker. I don't remember all of the bands that have opened for them, but some of the ones that come to mind are Suede and the Toadies ( I *think*) and Cracker. The first time I saw the Cranberries in concert was in 96 so Cracker was the opening band. I didn't really like them much anyway so I didn't buy any of their stuff. When I went to see them in May in Chicago, everybody said that somebody named Jude was supposed to open for them, but when we got there I was surprised to see Sponge on the billboard instead. I had heard some of their stuff on the radio but couldn't remember which songs they were. I did recognize them in the set though, and the band had a lot of energy. I went out a few days later and bought the CD with the 2 songs I recognized (Plowed and Molly) but was disappointed to find that it didn't have a lot of the more upbeat stuff from the set. They also said when we were there that their new CD was out or was coming out soon, so I picked that one up too (New Pop Sunday). This one did have a few songs that I recognized from the concert, the more upbeat ones, and among them the song Pollyanna, which is one of my favorites from the new CD. I finally recognized it at the end and what a great job they did live! The band had so much energy and they looked like they were having a lot of fun. The Cranberries were great of course too, and now I'm a big Sponge fan as well. So I was just wondering who else out there has been inspired to buy any of the opening bands' CDs. I was desperate to find one song, No More, No Less, and I was able to download it. If I had more money, I would be buying the stuff though! I like a lot of the tracks from Dosage, and the other CD's too. - -Brett ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 31 Aug 1999 21:27:43 EDT From: AIXBiLLy@aol.com Subject: Re: %Cran: Opening Bands i personally thought collective soul was awesome.. i liked how they played the U2 song before introducing the cranberries. One, I've never been to a Cranberries concert nor am I going to one on this tour (meaning i have more right to whine than anyone who got tickets) but if I ever do go, I want to be in total control of the situation. I want to get there at like 2 in the afternoon and not leave until I meet, talk to, get an autograph, take a picture with, and hug Dolores. I also sit at work, at school, and at home having fantasies about being friends with The Cranberries. I would even work as each of their personal slaves for just enough money to live off of. It would be beyond awesome to work for them and go on tour with them. Maybe THAT'S what Heaven is like.
