Most of you probably won't care about this, but I'll write anyway: As some of you may remember/know I have spent the last four years working (and never really finishing) my Cranberries site, which ever since the release of TTFD had been called Hollywood. It is with shock and dismay that I write this email. The site was within around 2-3 hours worth of work to being ready to go online, after approx 300-400 hours work being done on graphic design and content, including both full graphic/text-only versions, taking advantage of technologies such as SSI, XML, javascript, java, etc. Today I came home to be told by my family that our house had been burgled. My computer was stolen (while all the others were left behind), and it contained the only up-to-date copy. The latest backup I have is around a year old. After much deliberation I have decided not to restart work on the site. I feel very empty and violated. I am not too worried about the loss of equipment. It is replacable. The time, hard work, and dare I say talent, that went into the site, and the other 3.5 Gigabytes of schoolwork, webdesign, graphic work, digital video, etc., cannot. I have yet to fully count my losses: I cannot remember in detail how much or what is lost. For once I see the benefit of the Cranberries being unpopular in Australia: my collection is still intact, so at least the time, effort and money invested in putting it together have not gone to waste. I apologise for this message, but in regards to the site, you are the only people who could possibly comprehend what anguish I'm going through right now, especially those of you who do graphic/web design. Signing off now, feeling violated, afraid and above all very empty, Johannes. - -- Johannes Schmidt "If a man talks in the forest, and there's no woman to hear him, is he still wrong?" ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 10 Aug 1999 19:49:47 +0200 From: "Frederik Bovendeerd" Subject: %Cran: Re: How rare is this? Well the results are in and of course our Irish lass won the bout! (To see the outcome go to http://www. prolefeed.com/features/catfight/secondround.html) Since Dolores won, however, she has to fight again...moving on to round 3 she is up against (gulp) Tori Amos (which should be a more difficult victory than a fight against Queen Latifah). Now I know if all of you vote she can kick Toris red haired ass to the moon. now I have nothing against Tori..shes very talented and im sure a lot of you love her...but I would really appreciate it if you voted for Dolores (http://www.prolefe ed.com/features/catfight/vote.html). I know everyone is in the voting spirit right now. With all the new things that are happening with the Berries (Charmed, Calvin Klein, JMI single and a tour!!!) we should all support them as much as we can (even if it is for a silly thing like the catfight). And dont forget to vote for the Animal Instinct video on TRL today (aug 10th) at the MTV website! (http://www.mtv.c om/mtv/tubescan/trl99_new/pickaday.tin) Thanks everyone!
