I had a great time. Meeting the band for autographs at HMV was a plus. They were all very nice. Dolores allowed pictures to be taken with her and some "younger" fans (mainly females). Concerning the Toronto concert, though, I do have some minor nitpicky observations: First, the security guy sitting in front directly in dead front centre of the stage--and in front of me and my girlfriend (she shot a roll of film from the third row, with the flash OFF, so as to not bring any attention to our area), was actually helping ushers confiscate cameras during the show (this was odd, I though, because the security was soooo lax at the entrance to the venue). Quite a pain. I'm sure if we had been sitting further back, we would have been able to turn the flash on. Also, I was somewhat surprised that songs like Promises/Zombie required 3 guitarists . . . I'm someone who's used to the minimal instrumentation rock bands, like The Police and U2, for instance (one drummer, one guitarist, one bass player). This was especially the case early on in these bands' careers. I'm not sure why Dolores and the backup singer/guitarist are playing the exact same notes and chords; it seemed quite redundant. Also a keyboard was plopped in front of Dolores at one point, and I'm not even sure she touched it. During one point, Dolores seemed to have a small guitar solo. All the other guitarists went on "sustain" for a bit, and Dolores plucked/picked maybe two notes, stopped, then stuck out her tongue as a joke (because I don't think she knows how to play a guitar exceptionally well; this isn't an insult, just an observation; I think she's a great lead singer, obviously . . .) She whipped her head around at this point, and stared, I'm almost positive, right at me (might have been a coincidence, but . . . during that time, I was laughing outloud, at her sticking her tongue out . . . and she began laughing as well. I was fairly close to the stage in the third row aisle). Dolores seemed, during the beginning of the show, to be performing often, with her eyes closed. I wonder if that helps her overcome stage fright. She mentioned in a recent interview on MuchMusic, that during the beginning of concerts, she is still a bit nervous (but overcomes this as the show progresses). The sound at Massy Hall was a bit "muddied". I could barely make out anything Dolores said. I suspect the way the speakers were situated (pointing up on the stage and angled back), that the being at the very front was not the best place to be sitting in terms of sound quality. Overall though, I loved every minute of the concert. One of the funniest parts of the concert was one of the techies/crew members forgetting to put Dolores mic back into the mic stand. I forget what song this was during; but the band had to stop and restart, only after Dolores located the mic lying on the stage. The crew member, after the song was finally completed, came out and shook his head and apologized to Dolores. By the way, The Cranberries were supposedly shooting the video for Animal Instinct, yesterday, somewhere in the Toronto area. They just don't check you as well as they do the guys. Another observation is that sure, they check bags - but not *that* well, a camera and DAT recorder can craftily be hidden without observation... First of all, I would just like to say that the Toronto concert on Saturday, was totally amazing. I was stuck up in the second balcony, but the sound was amazing and Dolores was amazing. She kept taking her shoes off - that was a little funny. Anyway . . . Like Dalia, I was wondering if any one made a bootleg copy of the show - if you did I would really like to have one. Also, yesterday when my sister was watching City news, she called me in just in time to see Dolores standing center stage from the concert on Saturday. She was talking about how filming the video in Toronto was their first choice because it is very laid back there, and more european then the states. I did not see what she was wearing, but she had amost waste length blond hair (a wig) haloed by a string of dasy's. Very hippie-ish. I look forward to seeing the new video Christy *Only three more days until tickets go on sale for the August 27th performance in Toronto.
