I actually like the poster i got better.. it is 2 of theor promotional posters.... one of which is... the Bury the hatchet cover... the poster it self is bigger than the poster they were selling at the concert and is 2 sides black on one side , white on the other... I scored that off of one of the roadie guys after the concert... i was asking him for one before the concert and he wouldn't give me one.. after the concert... i bumped into him again... and he gave me a brand new one when he recognized me the second time... i also got the smaller.. but ever nicer poster which has the pic of dolores and the boys in the bed room... ( the middle picture in the album booklet.. it is an awesome sized poster and is on a stiffer board... After the show i waited for dolores and the boys... and was lucky enough to get right up front.. unfortunately... there were too many people waiting and they didn't bother to sign any autographs... Sigh... It figures..... the time i finally get a chance to meet them... they don't feel like signing autographs and meeting the fans.... she was so close too... only like 2 meters away.... Sigh.. maybe next week at the toronto show... we shall see...either way the music and show were great.... and i did score 2 really cool posters for free... even better than the ones that they were selling... so that was very cool... and i did take a couple of shots at the concert and afterwards... so i will see if any of those turn out... well i think that is it for now.... Since I've been on this list for only 1.5 week I don't know if this review was posted before (the magazine it's in was published over 2 weeks ago). 'Cause I've read some things about negative European reviews I thought you might wanna see this review from the most respected music-magazine in the Netherlands called "Oor" (which, by the way, means "Ear"). The guy who wrote this review has said some very negative things about the Cranberries before (as you will see in the first sentence), but it seems like he finally understands what it's all about: the Cranberries are the BEST! :))) THE CRANBERRIES FOREVER!!! Ralph Niels (a.k.a. DarkHorse) info@noviomagum.com ~It could happen here today...~ ~The Cranberries~ It's the translation of a Dutch article. No. 8, April 17 1999 THE CRANBERRIES BURY THE HATCHET (Island/Universal) - -By Oene Kummer- In the OOR "Trends & Bands-special" of this year I wrote that I wanted the Cranberries-comeback to last as short as possible. That was before I heard this album. What was going on? After the success of the first two CD's and the flopping of the thirth, the Limerick-quarter has had a very rought time. Dolores O'Riordans health-problems and clouded mutual relations almost broke up the group. However, all this trouble had a positive effect, because the revealing titled "Bury The Hatchet" is the best album those Irish have ever made. How that's possible? The folk-pop of the Cranberries sounds more playful (but more solid aswell), sharper and more self-assured than before. Something like that goes for the vocals of Dolores too. She became a better team-player and overindulges less in the vocal stunts that made their music so "difficult" sometimes, which makes clear how strong is the songwriting-partnership with guitar-player Noel Hogan. Almost all thirteen clear-produced songs with suprising musical extra's sound great, while the lyrics represent the personal growth of the band-members in a honest way. As far as I'm concerned the Cranberries can go on for a long time if they continue like this! - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message. I think they're called "Jude" or something like that. But I'm not sure.. -Alex - ----Original Message Follows---- From: Dal To: cranlist@smoe.org Subject: %Cran: toronto show & 4/5star rating Date: Sat, 01 May 1999 19:06:17 -0400 okay I'll be in town on the weekend of may 8th for the concert. I had a couple of questions for toronto-ians or people who've gone to the concert b4: I was wondering how early show I get there at massey hall before the concert. It starts at 7:30 but since it's a small venue and there's no opening act, it's different. Is 6:30 better or is 5:30-ish? Also, how long would show be? Um, how can i possibly meet them? b4? after? what can i expect? Can someone please tell me the details about their visit to HMV on may 8th? Will there be a RTML meet b4 or after the show just so we'd say hi and know who we've been talking to all these years!? What other kewl places carry cran-stuff or other just fun stuff to do for the rest of the weekend? Will anyone be bootlegging the show? If so, can i have a copy later on? umm, i donno what else to ask! Okay I'm really nervous about the (I've been to a couple of concerts b4 in Ottawa) but it's like my very favorite band whom i've wanted to see in concert for 4 or 5 years so I'm like flipping out! so if you could answer any of my questions, I'd really appreciate it. It'd also be kewl if I'd get to meet any of you at the concert u'know (i'm not into net-meetings at all but i've been here for a long time that i'm getting really curious. don't worry I'm not judgemental or anything. I'd just like to put a face to a name u'know) anyways, yeah thanx alot! talk2yalater, Dal p.s.- in the ottawa citizen, there was a review for bury the hatchet and it got 4 out of 5 stars! i will type it up and send it to the list! p.s.2- YES!!!! I also got tickets for edgefest'99 (kinda liek a mini-woodstock) some pretty good bands are coming like moist! - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message.
