Dolores O'Riordan's range runs the inexpressive gamut from dreamy affectlessness to mild, clipped anger. Not that there's much to express in many of these ''cry...die''/''you and me, eternally'' lyrics, near-nursery rhymes that occasionally veer into the subliterate. I just ran out to Circuit City to purchase my copy and after listening to it... I'm left feeling quite disaapointed. It took three years to come up with this crap?! Promises is the only song that comes close to kicking a little ass. Animal Instinct is ok I guess, but most of the songs sound almost identical (ok, first time through I'll admit). What happened to the group that put out EEIDISWCW?! BTH is full of far too poppy melodies and sounds. I predict BTH is a hit with the yuppie crowd... As for me... I'll stick to EEIDISWCW and NNTA. I'll just keep listening to my old school Genesis. I think the cranberries have the Genesis syndrome. Good once... lost forever. J.T. Reedy P.S. - Letterman last night was a good show for me. The cranberries and a top ten reference to Genesis (something about how they suck now). Okay I finally got BTH...it's great to have the 'berries back...I listened to the entire album twice...and I have to say it was OK (this comes from someone who thinks that TTFD was the best overall 'berries record around - of the big four) Here's my short review... 1. Animal Instinct (cool) 2. Loud and Clear (cool - 2nd time around) 3. Promises (rocked) 4. You and Me (cool) 5. Just My Imagination (cool) 6. Shattered (cool) 7. Desperate Andy (weird) 8. Saving Grace (too slow - ok) 9. Copycat (coolish) 10. What's On My Mind (ok to cool) 11. Delilah (rocked - finally) 12. Fee Fi Fo (strange) 13. Dying in the Sun (huh?) There wasn't enough kicks in the album to suit my tastes...(I still will listen to it 24/7 for the next month mostly anyway) May 12 in Chicago I can't Wait... What do you guys think? Also just got done watching the MTV thing...who else was annoyed by the stupid icon of the album in the corner of the screen IN STORES NOW...anyway SMB - "We all need love, you know and rock 'n roll" - Dolores O'Riordan Burton Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message.
