I am soooo happy that I was thinking reasonably.... I was worried that neither of the 2 CD stores in the shopping mall across from my school would have the album (sometimes I'm a bit of a worried pessimist).... Anyway, went into the first one... they had the normal Aust. edition 14 tracks, for $28.95... so (thinking logically, as I always try to do) I went downstairs to HMV, where I bought for $29.95... Anyway I have the Australian "Strictly Limited Bonus Edition".... It has all 15 tracks (ie, Sorry Son, and Baby Blue), and a bonus CD (I was misinformed, it is NOT a CDRom)... It's a 4 track live CD, with the 3 songs from the Nobel Concert (though there is a mistake... the tracks are listed as 1. Promises (Live - Oslo '99), but at the bottom, it does actually say Dec. 98...) The fourth track is Zombie from Feile, Tipperary, 94... (I think I may already have this on a boot... not sure). Anyway, it's an absolutely brilliant album (in my opinion much better than TTFD)... On first impression, I absolutely love Fe Fi Fo... what a powerful song! Dying in the Sun is really nice too.... hmmm as for the ones that were MP3s already, most of you know those, so I won't dwell... I will say though, that the album version of Animal Instict is even better than the live one, I love this song... Generally, I really love the whole CD... the only song that I don't like quite as much as the others (though I do still like it) is Desperate Andy... it's strange.... Anyway, I'll scan the booklet, etc soon (definitely within the next few hours) and put them up somewhere.... Oh, and this album has the lyrics in the booklet :) Cheers, Johannes. - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message. What other vocalist could write lyrics like these and sing them as well as she does? No one that I can think of. Maybe Barney could write similar lyrics, but there's no way he'd make it as fun to listen to. I can't wait to see them perform on Letterman. I wish he'd interview them, but that's probably not likely. Maybe they'll say something on the Rosie O'Donnell show. But I must say, David Letterman is the greatest living talk show host. Anyway, thanks, Johannes, for the lyrics. Now I just need to hear the song. I don't suppose you'd pick up a copy for me and let me pay you back. It's about time I got the Australian edition of something. BTW, what do you think of Episodes II and III of the Star Wars saga being filmed in Australia? You lucky dogs. First impressions are that this is their best album yet. There are very few weak parts to it although I don't like desperate Andy and Loud and Clear sounded better at the London concert than it does on the album. Those two apart I love it. Shattered is an amazing song - truly amazing!! Fee Fi Fo and Dying in the Sun are excellent as well. One thing though - apart from Promises (the obvious choice for their first release from the album), I don't see any songs on the album which you can point at and say they are going to be a big chart hit. Not that that matters of course, but if Promises can only peak at number 13 here in the fickle UK charts then I don't think there is much hope for future singles. Anyway, who cares. No matter what anyone might say, this really isn't their most lyrically mastered CD.. just compare to "Not Sorry" or "Nothing Left At All". Although I am slightly disappointed in the new CD (from what I've heard of it), It won't stop my love for the Berries. Even if their next album is full of "Will You Remember?"'s and "A Fast One"'s, I'll still buy it and it's not gonna keep me from loving the older stuff. I just found out that this Sunday, there wil be an album and cd convention (at the chateau laurier in Ottawa) there is supposed to be alot of rare stuff, autographs, posters, etc. Has anyone here gone to one? What should I expect? I'm really hoping that they will have The Cranberries Uncertain cd or Watercircle tape. (what's the range for those?) (is it likely I may find any of those?) so yeah if anyone could give me tips on whether to tell if it's a ripoff or not, amount of money I should bring, what I should expect, whatever- that'd really help. I'll definately look for Cranberries stuff and if I find stuff, i'll try to buy stuff and even sell it to you guys(for the exact same $ I bought it for). Talk2yalater, Dal p.s.- goyette, since you live in the same city, you can email me privately for details if you're interested. anyone else, feel free to email me as well - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message. I've nearly convinced my parents to let me buy tickets online (since it's the only way) but they just want to know the details first. Jeez, I'll even take my mom to the concert with me! (she doesn't mind The Cranberries and she's heard the music alot when I play it on full blast on my stereo) anyways, I'm going home right afterschool on thursday to buy the tickets and I'll be armed with my parents' credit cards. btw when i buy the tickets, someone from Toronto wil hafto tell me how to go there. anyways, let's hope I get the tickets and then after I get them :) I'll ask about that. hmmm what do u guys think we make some kinda card or something, signed by all the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List members? Given Toronto, I'd expect a pretty good show. I would not expect however to find Uncertain there, nor would I even look for Watercircle. Typically you just won't find things that rare at the show. You might get lucky, but I honestly doubt it. And I can guarantee that Watercircle has not been on the market since it was originally released - I have contacts in a large number of places, and no one has ever seen one. The only copies I know of in existence are in the hands of Garrett (who got one as a member of the press covering their early stages) and supposedly one in Canada, which was the result of a private trade with an individual from Australia. However, if that copy came up for sale, I would probably be contacted. You should take as much money as you want to spend. Typically, there is some level of dealing involved, so you might be able to get a price reduced if you are buying more than one thing. Typically, taxes are included in the price because they don't want to hassle with it. If it's $16, they'll often take $15 just to make it easy, but it depends on the dealer. Also, credit cards will be accepted by some of the dealers if you want to bring that. You'll also want to look around at all of the dealers. Some of them will not have everything in alpha order, so if you have the time, plan on going through rows and rows of CDs. In general, I find that if they can't be bothered to organize, I can't be bothered to look. Don't be afraid to ask, because often not everything is on the table. They may also have something they didn't bring, but they'll sell to you when they get back home. If you are looking for something specific, ask for it. If you're looking general (like for Cranberries), just ask that. You might want to preface that with "rare or unusual." Don't expect to find too much Cranberries stuff, they usually don't have much. Also, if there show is over two days, prices tend to decline towards the end of the second day, but also everything tends to be a bit picked over. Hope this helps. Email me directly if you need any additional information.
