Well my fine friends of cranberryland, I bring you news of the new video that premiered last night. I taped it in SP mode, so it was a clean recording, but I was majorly bummed in the head that there was not more fanfare arond it. I heard more attentition about some bands I had never heard of, than they did for the Cranberries. They didn't even get a line that said, "this is a premiere from the Cranberries"! Not nary a whim. Well, here's the rest of what I thought: "Promises" had the vibe of Salvation and it was a paragon to all that which exemplifies the Cranberries sound. It was slick, it was odd and it was *really* groovy. I especially liked the heavy dark eyes of Dolores with the added bonus of her leather pants and accompanying top. :) The song altogether? Well, I think it has to grow on me. It didn't immediately grab me, but that may be explained by the fact that I was watching it after eight hours of slumber. Anyhoo, there is some kind of meaning behind the scarecrow coming to life and this celestial yellow, twinkling orb that is being held without bail in the local jail. The white cowboy or the black cowboy and the ensuing showdown at the end? Well, there is some meaning there, but I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks. A big hoo ha that there is finally a new song for me to revel in and it is cranking the slobbering animal inside of me up and ready in preperation for the weeks to come. Well, take care all, and please do something nice for at least one person today. :) Oh yeah, and don't buy Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys or anything by a group of more than 4 males. You *should* spend your money on some Diana Krall, the new Cardigans or anything by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Thanks for taking the time to read me. What can I say about it? Really great. Typical Cranberries style... that is absolutely nonconformistic and unforeseeable. It's definitively a true 'berries video, for a true 'berries song... :) I can't say more... you MUST see it. Hey, I have a few things to say, none of too much importance, and nothing that probably hasn't already been said. maybe I should keep up with my email more...But anyways. Promises has been playing a lot more on the radio. It's really cool, on Saturday I heard it played on a station out of Boston, and the DJ said something to the extent of this..."I used to not have any time to pay attention to The Cranberries, but after hearing this new song I may pay attention to them." Then he went on to say how he liked how in the song there's the do do do do...part. So, that was neat, hearing a DJ give the Cranberries credit when credit is definitely due. On another hand, I heard the song again today on another station. That makes 3 stations that I've heard so far in Boston playing the song!! But the DJ, after the song was finished said that "Bury The Hatchet" was being released on April 23rd...which is a Friday and makes no more sense to me than the April 19th date which is a Monday. Well, that's my rambling. Ok, the MP3's are online now. You can find them under the 'Multimedia' section at: http://www.the-cranberries.net/ Unfortunately, I didn't have enough server space, so I encoded them all in mono (but otherwise still CD quality). This was a very tough decision, but I wanted to have all MP3's online at the same time. Feedback on the topic is more than welcome.
