It doesn't look too good, especially the bit about touring. - -- IT'S ALL-OUT CORR By RICHIE TAYLOR Angry words . . . Dolores SINGING star Dolores O'Riordan has attacked The Corrs saying they won't be a hit in America like her. The Cranberries favourite said: "I'm sure they're lovely girls, but they're too diddley-aye for my liking. "Mark my words, they'll do nothing in America. "Americans like their music raw. Look at groups such as Pearl Jam and Bush. " Multi-millionaire Dolores' blast comes as The Corrs are being tipped by music insiders as natural successors to The Cranberries. The Dundalk pop sensations - who won the Best International Group gong at the Brit Awards last week - jet out to the U.S. next month. But outspoken Dolores, on the comeback trail after a two-year absence, claimed the stunning Corr sisters Andrea, Sharon and Caroline are not rough or raunchy enough for the American market. She added: "Even the big name American singers like Courtney Love and Sheryl Crow have a roughness to them. "The Corrs are too polished, they're nothing like us. America loves us." A spokesman for The Corrs last night said the group didn't want to be drawn into a slagging match with The Cranberries. He added: "I feel that Dolores' remarks aren't even worth commenting upon." Dolores has also admitted she is not that fussed about heading off on another world tour with The Cranberries to promote their upcoming album Bury The Hatchet. The group's last world tour was cancelled after Dolores became ill through overwork and her weight plunged to six-and-a-half stone. She revealed: "Half of me just wants not to bother with the tour. I've got a husband and little baby to keep me occupied. "But I'll admit that there is a yearning to play to thousands of people that never goes away." The singer, who has a 14-month-old son Taylor Baxter, is married to former roadie Don Burton. The couple own luxury homes in Limerick and Kerry. She is said to have an estimated personal fortune of 30 million. But the feisty singer has also admitted starting a pub brawl when she thought another woman was making a play for her husband. She revealed: "I was in this pub with Don and was back on the drink. "I was also breast-feeding, so my hormones were all over the place. I saw this woman with her arms around Don's neck and her feet off the floor." She said it looked like Don was hugging the woman back - although he definitely wasn't. She added: "I was very hormonal and confused. And drunk. "So I ran over and began slapping him about the head, which is not easy as he's a giant. Then I started in on her." Dolores has now sent out a clear message to anybody wanting to mess with her man in a song called Delilah from their new album. "I felt terribly ashamed by the way I acted, but Delilah is a simple message to anyone out there. Keep your hands off of my man." THE CORRS' spokesman also laughed off a dig at the band by all-girl trio The Nualas on BBC Radio 5 yesterday. The comedy troupe poked fun at the skinniness of Andrea, Sharon and Caroline. The spokesman said: "It's been part of The Nualas' stage show for quite some time now. There is absolutely no offence taken." I think that the article is trying to paint the berries (ok, well, Dolores) in a bad light... I'll use the below bit as just one example (I'm sure u've just read the entire article, and don't need me to resend it all): > The singer, who has a 14-month-old son Taylor Baxter, is married > to former roadie Don Burton. a "roadie" sounds much worse than what he is now & has been... Seeing that he was the manager (?) for Duran Duran when D. met him), and is the berries one now (still true, I'm assuming)... any comments, or corrections??? thanks... nic... <<--------------- "I can't believe that!" said Alice. "Can't you?" the Queen said in pitying tone. "Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes." Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One can't believe impossible things." "I daresay you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. - -----"Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll------------->> - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message. Dolores' comments about the Corr's didn't seem to be "angry" as they have claimed. In fact she states "I'm sure they're nice girl's". She was simply giving her honest opinion based on her personal experiences in the American music market. The Corr's were very well recieved during last years Fleadh Festival here in the states but I think Dolores is right. The Corr's will experience moderate success but they arn't going to draw the really large crowds. - -Little - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message. But what they quoted sounded somehow weird. Agreed, it is The Sun, so we should not take too much word for what they wrote, especially the part where Dol claimed "America loves us!" sounds a bit too much uncommon for the other interviews I read/watched...
