I finally hear the ad I was telling you about, for the competition. They play the album version of promises in the background (first a bit of the first verse.. "You better believe I'm coming.... you bet you'll get what you deserve", and the the chorus). It's quite a bit slower than the live version, and of course the backing vox are dolores overdubbed. It still sound excellent though... can't wait til monday... I'll have to watch mtv all day! Ciao. Anyway, on good ol' VIVA (the German music station) the Cranberries were on! Yes, well two of them anyway: Dolores and Fergal talking about what they did over the last little while etc etc. NOthing we haven't heard already except that maybe the fact that Dolores likes to horse back ride, they own horses...the other thing is that she enjoys cooking, especially seafood...well that was what I could make of it when seeing and hearing Dolores talk in English but then dubbed over even louder with a German voice! (hard to pick which language to concentrate on). They also showed the new video: Promises. Obviously not done yet because the Dolores' lip sync-ing did not go with the song...the video was bizarre to say the least. Kind of a cowboy type theme - sort of dark and just...weird! Dolores admitted that it made no sense. The song...well....I was a bit disappointed. I don't know how they sounded at the NObel peace prize awards, but to me the sound of this song is a cross between The Picture I view and Free to Decide. I didn't sense any EE sound at all. Her voice sounded harsh and not at all nice. It's hard to judge because I only heard it once and maybe the rest of the album isn't going to sound like that but...ah well. Anyway, that's all the news for now. I believe we shall be hearing it quite a bit more after monday yes?
