[Brett ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Sat, 16 Jan 1999 11:30:12 -0600 From: Sullivan Subject: %Cran: Unannounced MuchMusic Visit Hello everyone, I just thought I would pass on some of the interesting points of the Cranberries interview on MuchMusic yesterday. I was lucky enough to realize that the show would be re-broadcast at about 3:30am so I set my VCR and caught the interview. Only Dolores and Fergal were there and they did not mention where Mike and Noel were. First of all the dates . . . Video - Feb. 15 '99 Radio - Feb. 22 '99 Single (in stores) - March 22 '99 Album - April 26 '99 Now here are some of the interesting points taken from the interview. . . 'Promises' (first single, I am sure most of you know) will be a "funny" video according to Dolores and Fergal. It was made by the same person who created 'Salvation'. It is also one of the "harder" songs on the album according to Dolores. They took and break from each other for six months before they started seeing each other again, and writing songs came after that. For Dolores, Taylor was an "amazing experience" that put "everything into perspective" and reading through the lines, infulenced the album a lot. Bury the hatchet is a "new beginning; optimistic" and is saying "move on" and let "bigons be bigons." Dolores said it is a "happy; kinder; gentler; beautiful album." The first 3 albums were like a trilogy and BTH is a new start. Some interesting things I learned . . .2 of the band members like to dress up like women (according to Dolores! By the look on Fergal's face he might be one of them! ;) Their 10th anniversary is next year and it will be celebrated with a huge party and a hangover the next day. If you hear Dolores is in Canada, you may spot her wearing a wool hat and scarf so you do not recongize her. Dolores does not like the Spice Girls and has already let Taylor know that the album is not allowed in the house. Canada is one of their favourite places and they love Canadians because we are more laid back, friendly and are more like them (More European). Dolores also said that Canada has great audiences that "really know how to rock!" Thats about it, but if you would like to know any other perticulars just let me know. The very silent list member *Christy* Christy Sullivan lives in a small town called Orangeville in Ontario, Canada and loves THE CRANBERRIES, SETH GREEN and ETHAN EMBRY! - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message. I see, I see. ;-) Now finally even Germany's biggest Music television writes something about the Berries in their teletext. There is not much new stuff in the "article", but I translated it anyway: Comeback - The Cranberries The Cranberries are back. With renewed force and a new album soon to hit the stores the famous irish band ("Zombie") are ready to enter the charts again. " "Bury the Hatchet" is much happier than the other albums" Dolores O'Riordan says. "Some of the 14 new songs are a bit naive, some others even humourous". Two years ago the band agreed on a creative break. Whether it was any help you can see in February, when the new single "Promises" premieres. ... "Zombie"! ;-) DUH! ;-) Who did not know that? ;-) Take care, - Frederik +++ ICQ *3887587* +++ *Homepage at* http://www.toevo.de/puti +++ +++ *Cranberries Cover Gallery* +++ http://crancovers.home.pages.de +++ - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message. After seeing your post, I found that the "Go With the Flow" program was going to be repeated at 3:30 AM until 5, so I taped it and just got done watching it. The interview was the first thing, and lasted about 20 minutes. They also played Zombie and Salvation. Dolores and Fergal were the only two there, I guess Noel and Mike don't like talking to anyone. ;) Anyway, at first, the moronic host said that the album would be coming out on March 22nd, with Promises being played on Feb. 15 on MuchMusic, and Feb. 22 on radio. She later corrected herself because she had everything messed up. The correct dates, according to her are as follows: March 22 - International store release of Promises single April 26 - Bury the Hatchet release No new radio release date was given However, both of those dates are Monday, and most music is release on Tuesday, last time I checked. TTFD was released in North America on April 30, 1996, which was a Tuesday, so I don't know. I also thought that singles went on sale after the album, but maybe I'm crazy. According to Fergal, they will start touring in April, and they will definitely be going to Toronto again. Nothing else mentioned, except that it sounded like they still feel pretty bad for having to cancel so many shows in 1996. As for the new title, Dolores said that Bury the Hatchet means that it's the beginning of a new era for the band, and they want to let bygones be bygones. The first three (tree with Irish accent) were part of a trilogy that she grouped together because they were made in succession without having any sort of long term break. Well, those are all the interesting notes I was able to make from the interview, hope it's helpful to someone. - -Brett - --------------------------------------------------------------- This is the Ridiculous Thoughts Mailing List Send posts to : cranlist@smoe.org Send unsubscribe requests to: cranlist-request@smoe.org Put "unsubscribe" in the BODY of the message.
