They didn't say much about the record but just that they talked about the recording of it a bit. Dolores mentioned that last year they did some demos (the ones they did in Toronto I assume) when she was 7 months or something pregnant. They liked them so much they decided to keep them. She then mentioned that they did some more recording two weeks after Tyler was born and then more in the summer. She went on to explain how it was hard to do the recording any faster because of being a mum. And that was about it. I haven't mailed for awhile (because dad's uni had the power switched off for half a week, thus no internet for me). Anyway, merry christmas for those who celebrate (a bit late), happy hannukah (sorry, I bet that's spelled wrong) (and it's extremely late).... and of course happy new year for a few days from now (best to get in early). Now, here's the weird bit. I was watching the Australian Top 20 on MTV on Friday (normally don't, but my brother was visiting from interstate), and at the start the girl was rambling on about what they'd be showing. The last thing she said was "and tonight The Cranberries make their long awaited return to the charts". So, I sat there for awhile and pondered whether or not I had actually heard it. My brother wasn't paying attention, so he couldn't confirm it. A bit later in the program she said again "after the break The Cranberries are raising the Irish flag up the pole again". They ended up not showing anything by the berries, and after the that ad break they showed a hit prediction by some Irish band called Ash. Needless to say I was disappointed. Now I've finally got a net connection again, and I go to the MTV Australia site, and here's what it says on their charts page: Please note: The Web Guy has lost all his fingers in a nasty vegetable peeling incident. As a result, charts will not be updated for the time being. Keep your fingers crossed out there in webland for his speedy recovery. Anyway, I hope we find out more soon. (and I'll watch the charts again tonight to see if they either play anything berries (maybe it was a re-release of something... or maybe they've decided to finally release hollywood here) or if they'll at least stop trying to trick me, and not announce things that they won't actually play. I know I and some others share you feeling a little bit. I'm not nearly as excited for this album as I was for the last one. I too have not been listening to the Cranberries nearly as much as I used to. But I still am (to myself, as it is different for everyone) a genuine fan of the Cranberries. I think I will always just love their first album. Like Dalia, it's one of those albums that, sure the music is sad, but it soothes me and cheers me up even. I rediscover it every time I put it in my cd player. Strange as that may seem to others, it makes perfect sense to me. I am a little pessimistic about how the next album will be. But really, I have not heard ANY material from it, and I don't know if we can hazard any guesses or opinions until we've heard it. But it seems to me the Cranberries are too eager to change their sound. I know that's not necessarily a bad thing, but I don't know if I could consider it a great thing either. A lot can be said for bands who are able to try new things, but at the same time maintain their own style and sound. The only thing is we shall have to wait and see... > PS : Little, about my "CD project", it is totally frozen right now. > Nevertheless, It's not forgotten, may be in a near future, who knows. > As you see, I have lost the motivation...but I would be happy to made > again a copy of my own boot to you as I have done for Suzy lately. > I still have a master ready. and a 4 CD burners (2 at home and 2 at > my job ) And they are most incredible - encore un gros merci, Francois! I think not To everybody, You're all free to like or dislike The Cranberries, and as Paul said, anyone who has changed their musical taste can unsubscribe at any time. What I don't understand is why you have to listen to the Cranberries once a day, or once a month, or with any given frequency, to like their music. In my experience, if I listen to the same music every day, I'll end up really saturated, however good it is. Besides, if I had to listen to all the music I really like once a day, I would have to quit sleeping, eating and studying, and still it would take me over 24 hours. Personally, I've had periods in which I listen to the berries all day long, and then maybe for a couple of months I don't listen to anything. And that has happened to me with avery single band I like. I guess as we live different situations, our sensitivity changes and we need to listen to different kinds of music. As for the question of style, I've already bought EEIDISWCW, NNTA and TTFD. If they're going to repeat themselves then why would I want to buy their new work? I hope they explore new sounds and rythms, as that would made them much richer artists. Having said this, I think it's really stupid to give an opinion on something nobody knows. I mean, if we're saying this now, withOUT having listened to any of the new songs, I think I'll have to arrange for extra server space in my e-mail account for Jan-Mar 1999. First: I'll decloak. My name is Peter Morauski, I'm 17 and I live in a small town in South-eastern Wisconsin, where I am a Senior in High School. I first got hooked on The Cranberries when I bought NNTA. I was in the record store trying to figure out what to buy. I knew that I wanted to get something, but I didn't know what. I stood there thinking for a while about songs I might have heard that I liked. I thought of "Zombie" I thought the video was the coolest one I had ever seen and I loved the song. So, I bought NNTA thinking that "Zombie" would probably be the only song on the album that I would like. I was wrong!! I was hooked from the beginning. I went on to buy EEIDISWCW and the TTFD the day it came out. Since then I have developed a collection of 14 cran-related CD's, 4 cran-related tapes, 2 books, 2 videos, and even devoted a (short-lived) website, and many Art Projects based on our beloved berries. I also listen to: P(*)E, Tori Amos, Chumbawamba, Sneaker Pimps, Alanis Morisette, Meredith Brooks, K's Choice, Gravity Kills, Republica, Veruca Salt :-( so sad, among MANY others. Now for my reason for leaving: Throughout the years on this list I have experienced flame wars, a total of 3 different servers, and a new ISP provider for me, and I also have the privilege (?) of Rick's presence since the beginning. (what is up with him? oh well). OK, I'm starting to ramble, sorry. :-) The main reason I'm leaving is because my musical tastes have really broadened throughout the years, that I don't have the time to read all the mails I get. I'm signed-up to another list also. That list is for the Angry-Psychos. It's for P(*)E. I believe that P(*)E needs more support then the Cranberries do, and that the AP's feel more like a family then this list does. (no offense) Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE the Cranberries, but I don't have the time to read all the mail. I had to un-sub from one, and this was it (as much as I don't want to Please, everybody keep me updated if a major event occurs. (I'm always afraid of being left out of the loop) I may join again when the new album date comes closer, but we will have to see. Goodbye everyone................................................. I don't know what happened but I just got five messages by Suzy from the mailinglist-owner, and some old messages from mid december. Is this Suzy importing the Euro troubles on this list from the financial capital Germany, or is this an early warning how things will look like in exactly a year? Yes! Pure chaos! Gimme some more ;) Timmy PS Sorry for this off-topic message but I'm just plain happy. My year's starting swimmingly. ___________________________________________________________ | | | The Great Frontier | | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | | hi921136@castor.ufsia.ac.be | | http://www.geocities.com/Paris/6914/ | | - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - | | '... Just wanted to let you all know that I am currently going through my email, and I'm resending messages that bounced over the last month or so for whatever reason. If it's not still relevant, I'm skipping over it. Just so you know, mail bounces when it meets a variety of criteria, including non-member submissions. I try to handle it all right away, but it's not always possible. Apparently my earlier message is stuck somewhere. I'm just cleaning up some old bounced email. Suzy subscribed with a bad address (or one that changed), so all of her messages bounced. I resent her messages, and also fixed her account (I hope).
