Charles  Roven will produce the DC standalone feature with WB aiming to
release the film  on June 23, 2017.
Warner  Bros. had no comment on this story.
Plot  details of the Wonder Woman feature are unknown at this time. Itbs
also unknown  whether or not this will be an origin film since the Wonder
Woman character will  first make her appearance in bBatman v Superman: Dawn
of
Justice,b which opens  in March 2016.
Warner  Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently announced the DC slate at an
investor meeting  last month, which includes new DC/Justice League films from
Batman, The Flash,  Aquaman and more.
Over  the years there have been many attempts to deliver a Wonder Woman
film adaption  of the popular comic book character, with bThe Avengersb
director Joss Whedon  coming the closest before things eventually fell apart.
The  studio also seems to be taking the same route as Universal did with b
Fifty  Shades of Greyb by hiring a female director to tackle the material
given the  strong independent woman at the center of it.
MacLaren has made her name for herself in TV over  the past couple of years
on shows like bGame of Thrones,b bThe Walking Deadb and  bBreaking
Bad.b
Given the cinematic feeling each of her episodes gave off, it  seemed only
a matter of time before a movie studio gave her the opportunity to  direct a
tentpole pic.
According  to sources, Warner Bros. EVP of Production and Development Greg
Silverman has  always been a fan of MacLarenbs work for some time and had
been trying for  awhile to find the right project for her.
She  is repped by ICM Partners.
