Subject: [chakram-refugees] Xena, briefly, in America in Primetime

PBS is showing a series, America in Primetime, a  documentary
on U.S. TV.  The fourth episode, "Crusaders," is about  heroes.  
Like the rest of the series, they  concentrated on shows of the last 
several years and celebrated them as  superior to what had gone 
before.  They briefly mentioned women  heroes.  They said that 
women heroes are hard to do because the  shows risk masculinizing 
the women.  They showed very fast  clips of Wonder Woman, Buffy 
and Xena (fighting, of course),  then went on to cover The X Files in 
detail.
